Roger Miller died in l992 from throat cancer at the young age of 56.He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, but grew up in Oklahoma...He's always been an idol and hero of mine...With his offbeat down home humor, and great songwriting ability, I felt he was like the Marx brothers, Will Rogers, and Irving Berlin, all rolled into one....He penned a lot of great songs, dating back to the fifties....In the eighties, he composed the score for the Broadway show, "Big River"...It eventually won seven Tony awards, two of which, went to Roger.....But, I've always felt he never received enough credit for the musical, and comedy genious, that he was..
