The Lyrics

Have you ever heard of the year 2012? Stephen John Wilkins made me write a song about it. Man, did I wish he and I were back in 2012. I was younger then, making Jon Arbuckle look forward to the new year. This takes place back in Christmas 2012.
[Verse 1]
Mr. Arbuckle, please contact me with 2012,
I need to make apologies for ignoring Santa's elves.
I sure need to tell Santa, that I'm sick, not feeling well.
He'll wipe me off my naughty list, and make me ring the bell.

[Chorus]
They say the new year's coming soon,
But I'm stuck with pudding pops.
There's comic strips with running gags,
I'm wishing they would stop.
They're from Square Root of Minus Garfield,
I sure wouldn't tell.
It was a thing that I'm reading in 2012.

[Verse 2]
Wilkins, can you send me, a brown old cardboard box,
One to send a package from this lonesome empty rock?
Back into these lazy years of these comic strips.
I need to tell him not to go back into this field trip.

[Chorus]
They say the new year's coming soon,
But I'm stuck with pudding pops.
There's comic strips with running gags,
I'm wishing they would stop.
They're from Square Root of Minus Garfield,
I sure wouldn't tell.
It was a thing that I'm reading in 2012.

[Outro]
Losing the game, everything's the same, in 2012.
We sure do miss 2012. Did things happen in that year? If so, be sure to let me know in the comments below.
