The Lyrics

As a librarian I know once said: In todays written language, there are too many suffixizings. ;-)
When I look back upon some songs
Its always with an argus eye
I sometimes end the words to sly
For every word prolonged an inch
No matter pi or grr or tinge
Theres a reader that will flinch
Its a...
Its a...
Its a...
Its a fix!
Its suffix!

Every zing I ever wrote
Every word-prolonging dot
Every pacing-making out
Every ing youll ever spot
Its suffix!

At school they had a spelling bee
Some nerd won, I came eightyfree
I never did suckseed
Too many words I ended y
Like kosher, flash or going bi
And to "thing" it makes some cry
Its a...
Its a...
Its a...
Its a fix!
Its suffix!

Every word of mass distract
Every second after prime
Every hyphen I contract
Every birth of a new rhyme
Its a fix!

Readers, forgive me, I try hard to make it
Submitted a new song, then saw a "teh" in it
Wherever theres comas, I probably had one
Grammar, it fools me, verbs are worse than nouns
But I sometimes get it wright

So when I look upon my zings
Its always in a state of fear
I always need a six-pack beer
For every word in my matrix
There are some abbr-rhyming tricks
And some faults therein the mix
Its a...
Its a...
Its a...
Its a fix!
With suffix!

Every time Im going/dutch
Every spell-check surgery
Every rhyme-supporting crutch
Every transwordpostropheeee...
Its a fix!

Etc

No, there really *aren't* too many suffixes. Freedom of morphological rules is something I really love about English. To quote Steven Pinker, which I do whenever at all possible, "Even more impressive, the output of one morphological rule can be the input to another, or to itself: one can talk about the unmicrowaveability of some French fries or a toothbrush-holder fastener box in which to keep one's toothbrush-holder fasteners" (The Language Instinct, 122). Now how is that not absolutely awesome? Sorry for not voting, I don't know the song at all. Just wanted to add a Pinker quote ;-).

Thanx for reading it anyway and commenting upon it. I dont expect many votes for this one. PSB seems to be considered a bit obscure among the regulars here. There are only two parodies to their songs, and they are both mine. Theyve been big in Sweden ever since "Domino Dancing". Hmm... now theres a malcy idea again ;-)
