The Lyrics

This series is sinking fast.
Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald, we miss the Edmund Fitzgerald

Eyes looked to the heavens, saw no stars that night
Those waves would sure enough make that giant ship fight
Everyone had a feeling, something wasn't right
Lookout could not see the beacon light

She was sinking

Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald
We lost the Edmund Fitzgerald
Belly-up, seams popping, doom coming, now, now!
Deck awash, hinges pop, doom coming, now, now!
Hope is drifting away

Tonight the cook can't feed us, as the galley starts to sway
So, he bids farewell to every single man
The ruptured pipes were hissing, all twenty nine crewmen were missing
They'll search to find the reason if they can

They were looking

Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald
We lost the Edmund Fitzgerald
Ore no more, doom popping, doom popping now, now!
Far from shore, gloom dropping, gloom dropping wow, wow!
Ed Fitzgerald, away!

When I was a kid, my father would always listen to a country station (now playing "Lite-FM" music) on rides home from the Shore, and "Elvira" was the Number 1 song on that station all summer long. I'm not likely to forget it, and this may be your best one yet.

Quite a thing you've started here.

Check out tomorrow's entry. That's a song I doubt anyone here has heard. But worth looking up. My sisters were big Oak Ridge Boys fans. Any time they got within 200 miles of Kansas City they would run to see them. Even went to Nashville for the big country music fan fest. Glad you liked this version.

Patrick - Another fine take. I'll approach the topic from a different angle tomorrow. ;D
