When politics gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
and things seem hard or tough,
and people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
and you feel that you've had quite enough.....

Just remember that you voted in a booth in Palm Beach county,
that's a million-person county in our state.
It's growing at 23,000 folks a year, or so I hear,
enough to make a difference had we picked November 8.
Palm Beach and you and me, and all the folks that we can see
live in a 67 county state,
that's Florida, a state that's one of 50 total states
in the nation that we call the USA.

Our President's elected from 100 million votes,
that's 50 million voters side by side;
But states elect electors first, five hundred and thirty eight,
who then elect the President as though we hadn't tried.
A state elects electors based on who has won the state,
and Florida gets only 25.
But 25's enough to throw the balance either way,
when Harris certifies our votes at five.

Our state elects electors from about 6 million votes,
3 million votes for Bush, 3 more for Gore.
With all 6 million votes divided equally in two,
I hope you like the guy you voted for.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly important is your vote,
and pray that someone tried to count your pregnant dimpled chad,
'cause there's no one who can count it here in court!
