The Lyrics

After watching Clint Eastwood's performance at the Republican Convention, this should have been obvious. Surprised it took me this long to figure it out.
A belief that can't be broken
Though the pain goes on and on
Empty chair and empty fables
My America is gone

We were born of Revolution
Life would never be the same
How we bragged of "cold dead fingers"
'Til the tyrant's jackboots came

From the House and from the Senate
They would speak of change, reform
And they'd vote, their voices lying
"Shove it down their throats!"
The words they voted, never read
Became the chains that bind us
And now the land we once knew is dead

Will our children e'er forgive us?
Will they know enough to mourn?
Living in a world that's broken
Debt enslaved before they're born

Phantom promises of plenty
We would trade our freedom for
Empty chair and empty fables
Now our future is no more

While the Founders' voices curse us
"You surrendered it, what for?"
Empty chair and empty fables
Now my country is no more

Outstanding title and outstanding take on the burdens that are being passed on to future generations. Second best parody of TOS on AmIRight!

IDK why Eastwood is getting knocked on all sides. I thought his improv was both hilarious and spot-on.
Sad but true song.

Thanks. I'll have to look up the best parody. Clint Eastwood made an appearance in a Super Bowl commercial to deliver a similar message. It is sad to see a nation of such awesome potential being wasted by a regime determined to destroy us.

I sort of figured on who the author of the "best" parody might be. Brought back memories of those weird and confusing days.

Re the Clint Eastwood stand-up routine, in a 9/27 comment on http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/elvispresley236.shtml, I lamented that I was unable to parody this OS. You've done an outstanding job here.
