The Lyrics

So this started out about a man witnessing a funny drunken man, but then it became a depressing song about this man's battle with alcoholism. No longer funny. Enjoy.
There, out in the darkness
A naked man running
Fallen down stairs
Fallen down stairs
Wow he is so drunk
He cannot drive home
Till the cops take him there
Till the cops take him there

He must of drank one too much
But I will of course abstain
For those who avoid alcohol
Shall not live in vain
And if I snap
And buy a beer
I will feel
The pain!

Bars
In your multitudes
At least two per city,
I must avoid thee
With caution and care
You are the temptations
Always around me
Filling me with despair
Filling me with despair

You know how to make a man
Feel like he's always a king
And each with your brews
Returns and returns
To make me happily sing
But if you tempt me once again
I will feel, the sting

And so once again I must walk on
And try to ignore
For those who get drunk and those who chug
Will be at war!

Lord I am desperate
I feel so separate
From all my friends
Who get their ales
While I
Try to prevail
Try to conquer the bars!

One of the many show stopper songs from this outstanding musical. I don't think anyone has done this one on AIR before. A stunning portrait of alcoholism and how it can bedevil vulnerable people. You capture the feel of the difficulty of resisting temptation. One minor correction "He must have drunk one too much" is more grammatically correct. But maybe he was slurring his words, as those under the influence sometimes do. This is a very fine parody with a good message and imagery.

I agree with Patrick's mild grammatical criticism and with his strong praise of TOS. Well done, FunnyBiz!

Biz - Although your protagonist has a lot of pain and suffering, at least there's nothing "miserable" about your parody. ;D
