The Lyrics

I just wanted to show my love for my lovely state.
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked hard for all my life.
And I had to start all over again,
with just my husband and my kids.

I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
Cause our flag stands for pride,
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be Virginian,
where at least I know I'm not inbred.
And I won't take for granted this wonderful land,
that God gave to me.

And I proudly claim her as my own,
when I'm asked where I am from.
Cause I'm proud to be a Virginian,
God bless this state I love!

From the lakes of Anne,
to the hills of Appalacha.
Across the plains of Sperryville,
from the Bay to the shining sea.

From McLean down to Martinsville,
and Radford to Virginia Beach,
Well there's pride in every Virginian heart,
and it's time I stand and give my speech.

That I'm proud to be Virginian,
where at least I know I'm not a yankee.
And I won't take for granted this wonderful land,
that God gave to me.

And I proudly claim her as my own,
when I'm asked where I am from.
Cause I'm proud to be a Virginian,
God bless this state I love!

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

I have the pleasure of dwelling in the lovely Shenandoah Valley, but I am a Yankee at heart. You would most definitely NOT like my original song "Virginia is where you want to be." One of the lines: "It's true we paid our share of freedom's cost/but we only brag about the war we lost." :D

Pretty good, but you should have gone all the way with it. Like, "May God Bless old VA!" Then you'd have just about how I feel about Indiana. -- MM
