The Lyrics

With apologies and thanks to Lee Greenwood, this is an ode to one of the great countries that I love as much as I love the United States of America, that one of the great countries I love, of course, is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I've completed my academic year at a British music school, and I dedicate this ode to my American and British friends. This won't offend you. Enjoy! BTW, I enjoyed Lee Greenwood's original and its reworked version for our Canadian friends.
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked hard till the end.
And I had to start again,
with just my family and my friends.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be living here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be in Britain,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won't forget the ones who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the great UK.

From the banks of Loch Lomond,
to the hills of old Surrey.
Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow,
From Derry to Swansea.

From London up to Edinburgh,
and Cardiff to Belfast.
Well there's pride in every British heart,
and let’s hope it will not last.

‘Cause I’m proud to be in Britain,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won't forget the ones who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the great UK.

And I’m proud to be in Britain,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won't forget the ones who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the great UK.

If all UK people are faggs wouldn't we have died out after one generation? From what we see on TV the USA is far more fagg orientated than the UK so I presume it's you and your chums who are the shirtlifters. Get a life you twat.

As an Aussie living in London gfor nearly 15 years, I love the sentiment here. As for Mr U-S-A: thankfully you don't represent what is worthy about your great nation.. so just go away and try to grow a brain cell..

Thanks for commenting. BTW, I should have changed a line to "and let's hope that it will last," for the United Kingdom will live on in reality.
