The Lyrics

This parody deals with the 1979 NCAA final between Indiana State and Michigan State. My dream band consists of me, Catholic recording artist Angelina Davis and former POG member Terry Jones; hence the labelling of the stanzas.
Stanza I. Edward
Believers in Magic
(Also those who would fly like a Bird)
Converged on Salt Lake City
For one game far greater than words.
Not one knew that this game
Would really determine the fate
Of the game that's called B-Ball,
Which till now was stumbling out the gate!

Refrain. All
Sing we of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson
Who saved the game of B-Ball!
They'd resurrect the game on that night in the Rockies
'Cos they kept their eyes on the ball!

Stanza II. Angelina
Eighteen million households watched it;
'Twas that big of a game!
Thirty-eight was the share, which
Would put Super Bowls to their shame!
Four and twenty percent
Was the Nielsen of the game,
Which did live up to its billing
And NBC was without blame ‘cos now…
(Refrain)

Bridge. All
ISU and MSU fought for 40
Minutes of the clock. The points were more
Than many of that very decade’s
Best teams. They’d greatly fought to even score, so…
(Refrain)

Stanza III. Terry
Though Bird must not be forgotten,
The Spartans knocked off the top
Team in the land. Even good Larry
Was soon all but shut down and stopped!
But both winner and loser
Both made contributions alike;
The game of B-Ball was back
On TV despite many strikes!
(Refrain twice)
Final score: Michgan State 75, Indiana State 64.

By Angelina Davis is meant a Catholic recording artist who was born in 1988 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She appeared on Catholic Music 2007 and a bunch of liturgical albums before that. Her voice is quite mature for a 20 year old and her latest project is "Assembled," found in Catholic bookstores such as Leaflet Missal. You ought to hear her!

Sir Edward, ~Le Marquis GeNeReux ~ Thank you for the explanation, I will definitely check tinto her music, as my nephew is a student at Bellarmine Jesuit high school. I do value hearing about quality musicians!
