Original Song Title:

"Country Road Take Me Home"

Original Performer:

John Denver

Parody Song Title:

"Carmel Road"

Parody Written by:

Carol Brown

The Lyrics

A place where I lived for 4 years and would love to back and visit if I ever can......
California rolling valleys
Snowcapped mountains Carmel Valley River
Time slows down there sometimes it stands still
Sunlight thru the treetops listen if you will

Chorus: Carmel Road take me there
On a wing and on a prayer
Cachagua Mountain Hidden water
Take me there sweet country air

Bridge
Take me there sweet country air.....

Six miles out and six miles to the top
Drive that winding road thru one giantic rock
Mountain folk there accept you as you are
Don't have to be an actor or a big rock star

Chorus

Sultry summers having lots of fun
Swimming in the river basking in the sun
Two mile footpath up to Los Padres Dam
In commune with nature and the great I AM

Chorus

I hear that mountain gently whispering my name
Calling me back there in the sun snow or rain
I'm headed home soon
I know I'll find a way
Sweet yesterday!

Chorus

Thank you AFW, always did respect and appreciate your honest and constructive critisism. I have been gone for a while from here because I have become an honest to goodness songwriter. Just finished my 9th song in collaberation with a singer/songwriter of over 30 years at soundclick.com where I have been a member of almost two years. Here is the link to his music page if you would like to go check out the songs both his own and the ones we have written together. Just look for the pen name of Renee Hartman. Would like to hear your feedback.

Excellent job on highlighting one of the most spectacular parts of the US. BTW, we stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn

Thanks for the link, Carol..but my pc is old and slow and won't play music right..tried to locate lyrics to your songs, but couldn't find them on the page you gave.

Sorry to hear that AFW. I was so hoping you would be able to hear our songs. Keep this link though, if you ever upgrade your computer, you will be able to go back to that link and hear our music. The reason you did not find the lyrics to our songs is because Billy does not print the lyrics. Don't understand why, but he has his reasons. Perhaps you can find a friend with a faster computer and use the link I provided. I would so like for you to be able to hear our songs. Let me know.

I've been here off and on for 10 years, submitted my first parody in 2001, and I think I remember your name and your parodies somewhere way back. This was a great parody, and I'm originally from Oregon but have been almost everywhere in the continental US. I've never lived in Carmel, but I can say it's beautiful from passing through once or twice. Congrats on becoming a writer of original songs! 5s for you!!!

Andria--Thank you for your support and congratulations. But I would not be where I am today without the support and encouragement of my collaborater during the terrible time after losing a beloved furfriend. If you get the time, please follow the link to his music page and look for one special song called "My Heart is Broken". That's where it all started. And I am proud to work with a talanted singer/songwriter like Billy Flack. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=715577&content=music

Sir, this is very poeptic about the Great State oKalifornia ! only wish that we were in better financial shape, given that fact that the ~Our Creator~ bestowed so very much on California!

Drove through Carmel when Clint was Mayor -- made my day! :-) Whole Carmel - Monterrey-Santa Cruz - redwoods - mountain/valley scene is beautiful, and beautifully told. Fivetic poetry.

Nice trib, CB. Have visited Carmel just once, a few years ago, stopping by for a day and a half en route to pounts nort. What a lovely place to chill after a sometimes harrowing drive up a frequently fog-obsured PCH from Cambria! Had a great meal at The Flying Fish ... is that place still there?
