The Lyrics

For some reason, I cannot seem to go into a store, or a restaurant, or a club, or any type of public place without some randomly creepy person wanting to talk to me. Fast food restaurants--there's always some guy with a mullet wanting to introduce himself. Ugh. I hate to be a snob, but some people are just outright scary! The mall on Saturdays--it's impossible. Everyone who's ever set foot in juvenile detention wants to tell their story. My mother has this problem as well, with the older dregs and disasters of society. The DMV was an interesting experience for both of us, and here's why:
I saw him dancing there by the soda machine
His IQ must have been about seventeen
His stench was very strong
Singing a dumb rap song
An' I could tell it wouldn't be long
Till he spoke to me, yeah me,
And I could tell it wouldn't be long
Till he spoke to me, yeah me, because

I'm the freak magnet
I guess I'm popular with the screw-ups, baby
I'm the freak magnet
All the scary kids wanna talk to me

He smiled, I looked away, but he asked for my phone
I gave a false number
I wanted him gone

I wish I had stayed home, where they leave me alone

An' next he was movin' on
Following me, yeah me

Next he was movin' on
Following me, why me, because

I'm the freak magnet
I guess I'm popular with the screw-ups, baby
I'm the freak magnet
All the scary kids wanna talk to me

I wish I had stayed home, where they leave me alone

An he'll be movin' on
Following me all day long
God, why me? Because:

I'm the freak magnet
I guess I'm popular with the screw-ups, baby
I'm the freak magnet
All the scary kids wanna talk to me

Good one SV. I'd love to see a similar theme to Alanis's "Ironic" called "Magnetic". =)

I love rock n roll lyrics are not by Joan Jett, they are by the original artists the Arrows band members Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker. Copyright RAK Music Publishing 1975. Joan Jett covered this Arrows song.
