Parody Song Title:

"Bad Preachers"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

They're out there on TV and in the pulpits...
On TV day and night
The prosperity gospel types
Nothing is new
Frauds ripping off the poor
Preying rather than praying
Oh, they care for you
Send the money... more and more!

Nobody paid to see
Jesus
And His earthly ministry
The meek and the mild
The crippled and lame
Came from near and far
The truth still matters
If it's not about love
The preachers are a bunch of liars...

(Chorus)
(Oh-oh, they are bums)
Watch out folks
They'll mess you up
(Oh-oh, they are bums)
They are bad preachers
(Oh-oh, ask for sums)
Watch out folks
They'll mess you up
(Oh-oh, they're not your chums)
They are bad preachers

I wouldn't special tithe if I were you
These ungodly people prey on fools
Asking all to send
As much money you can spare from your heart
The amounts matter
For new cars and new lairs
New helos, jets, and yachts...

(Chorus)

[Trinket holy oil they'll send to you]

Ooooooooh
(Oh-oh, they're all bums)
Ungodly scum
Watch out folks
They'll mess you up
(Whoa-oh, more donations)
(Watch out) they are bad preachers
(Oh-oh, righteous- None!)
(They are bad preachers)
Ooh, they'll mess you up
(Oh-oh, they're all bums)
Unholy scum, they are bad preachers
(They all should be shunned)
(Watch out)
On TV day and night
(Oh-oh, they're all bums)
Unrighteous scum
They are bad preachers
(Oh-oh, Joel is one)
(He's a bad preacher)
Lying prosperity gospel
(Oh-oh, they're all bums)
Demonic scum
Watch out folks, watch out folks
(Oh-oh, don't listen to 'em)
Oh, watch out, watch out
Watch out, watch out
(Ripping off in the $millions)
(Yeah, yeah) they are bad preachers
(Oh-oh, tax evasion)
(They are bad preachers)
More preying than praying
(Oh-oh, they are scum)
They are bad preachers

Don't pay $$$, just pray
To Jesus Christ our Lord

One of your best, IMO.

Thanks JAB!

A problem since the days of Simon the magician. False prophets, wolves in sheep's clothing, and other such terms, were and are a plague. Simon Peter and Jude both had much to say about such folks. Thanks for a timely expose' of people who may not have the Great Commission in mind!

Jon, where have you been? When can we expect some new parodies?

^ thanks for asking, mate. I've been busy, but will have some requested works coming up later this month! :) I'm also suffering a bit of mental burnout, but will still be doing my big "2018" project. I should be fully back in the swing of things and ready to start said project, by March!

Hey, Rob and others, I don't know what happened but somehow my last name dropped off the comment. The reference to Simon Magus, Jude, etc., was mine but I certainly don't object to others sharing Biblical references. Savage wolves are still out there seeking sheepish sheep to devour. And preachers who do little but tickle itching ears are going to make out like the false prophets they are. Nothing is wrong with receiving gifts and other tools for better ministry. The problem comes when these become the goal, and not desiring to "spend and be spent", like Paul the Apostle, for other believers. Anyway, the false prophets are here, they've been here, and they're going to remain here for a long time to come.

I remember an exposé of one of the TV evangelists. A TV reporter with a hidden camera caught the clerical staff opening letters with pray requests. The cash and checks were set aside and the letters and envelopes were hauled to a dumpster in the alley. Not sure if the preacher went out and prayed over the dumpster, but I doubt it.

this is great! Ever heard 'Jesus He Knows Me' by Genesis? The song is a riot, its video is a riot and this Hall and Oates parody is a TRIP!!!

I remember when Jimmy Swaggart's mistress got her famous 15 minutes. Jimmy said to his flock 'I have sinned' and shed crock tears. His call girl (I think her name was Debra Murphy) had her picture in the paper. MAN - she was ugly, UGLY, UHHHH-GGGG=LEEEEHHH!!! : (-
