I’m a rough and rugged trucker, like to drive my truck all day
And although I’m always careful, sometimes things get in my way
Just last week I heard a thump and felt a bump and I thought “Shoot,

Didn’t see that little hedgehog, but no matter – after all
Into every trucker’s path a little roadkill has to fall
So I scraped him off my mudguards, though I had to wonder why
I had thought I heard a little voice cry

Two days later in the dead of night I woke up with a scream
Saw that hedgehog once again but I dismissed it as a dream
It was squished flat as a pancake so I knew that it was dead

And the prickly creature driving looked mean!
