The Lyrics

This is another musical tribute to TV’s Gotham, but in the same episode “Tonight’s the Night” (Season 2 Episode 8). It takes place right after Driving Barbara Kean to Gall, and right before A Deadly Wedding Night in Gotham. The following song parody is about Harvey Bullock begging Captain Nathaniel Barnes to take him and the other officers to the church, where Barbara Kean is holding Jim Gordon and Dr. Leslie Thompkins hostage. The song parody is a view from Harvey Bullock.
You say I have to go home tonight, home tonight
Something with Jim does not feel right, feel right
We have crash, crash, crashed, to a gang
I know it angered you
We must get on the run, to the Gotham church
Captain Barnes, I’m begging you

Now, we must go save Jim Gordon’s life, Jim Gordon’s life
Barbara Kean will never become his wife, become his wife
Captain, we got a job to do, and I need some help from you

And we are a team, and we must set Jim free, we’re depending on you
We are a team, and we’re the GPD, we’re all counting on you

We must end this crime by bedtime, by bedtime
We got the Strike Force to fight all this crime, this crime
We must drive, drive, drive, to the church
It’s all I’m asking you
Because if we don’t go, we’re all gonna fall
And die right in front of you, in front of you - we’re all waiting on you

We are a team, and we have the power, what I’m saying is true
We are a team, and we’ll spend this hour, trying to solve this clue

We gotta get driving; through Gotham City
To put an end to violence
And Galavan has no common sense
He must be behind this scene
About brainwashing Barbara Kean
So we must all get on trucking (get trucking, get trucking)
If they shoot, we will be ducking (be ducking, be ducking)
Evilness chills me right to the bone
I will never ever do this big job alone
I feel that Jim is dying
And you know that I’m not lying
We must save his behind

I will not be coming home tonight, home tonight
Until this stupid crime is solved right, is solved right
We will move, move, move, to go save Jim
It is our job to do
We must get on the drive, to Gotham cathedral
Captain Barnes, I’m begging you, begging you - and we will not disappoint you

We are a team, and we’re law enforcement, we got a job to do
We are a team, and it won’t cost a cent, to end this crime for you

We are a team, and we’re Gotham police, we’re depending on you
We are a team, and we’re all gonna cease, this crime tonight for you
Don’t worry. I will come up with Gotham song parodies of Genesis songs about other characters, like young Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle, Oswald Cobblepot, etc., as well as the other episodes from the “Rise of the Villains” season. Depending on how many of those Gotham song parodies it is going to take to tell the story of “Rise of the Villains,” the compilation of all those Gotham song parodies could either be a double-album parody titled “Kill Gall: Vol. 1 & 2” (wordplay on “Kill Bill: Vol 1 & 2) OR an album parody trilogy titled “The Galavan: Parts I, II, & III” (wordplay on “The Godfather: Parts I, II, & III”). In the meantime, I have upcoming Gotham song parodies in my mind, like “Galavan Broke Free” (parody of “Jesus He Knows Me”) and a couple of Oswald Cobblepot parodies of songs, like “Dodo/Lurker” & “Man in the Corner,” from the Abacab album. Wish me luck.
