Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"The Great Karlando"

Parody Written by:

Laurence Dunne

The Lyrics

Karlando, don't take this too seriously please, but with the screen name you chose, you were sorta asking for it
Oh yes, I'm the great Karlando,
I write lots of corny parodies
politically, i'm a staunch leftie
I hope to bring Dubya to his knees

My name is the Great Karlando
That's what I want people calling me
my song's aren't mild, like my 'girls gone wild'
or 'squeeze butts', or my hit, 'gotta pee'

I seem to be obsessed with nudity
I wish they did not ban profanity

Oh yes, I'm the great Karlando
I write about hookers, clones and gas
sometimes I can, sometimes I can't scan
and pacing is an optional task

Some bodily functions appeal to me
and daytime talk is as cute as can be

Oh yes, i'm the Great Karlando
and rhythming is just not my game
prolifically writing parody
Karlando the Great -
Karlando the Great -
Karlando the Great is my name

Karlando, please don't take offense, you've written several parodies that I laughed out loud at, which is something only about five other authors on this site can do....

I wouldn't take offense if this were about me.

No I dont take offense. But, if your house should suddenly burst into flames or should your car be crushed by a steamroller.....

Naw man I'm kidding. As far as I know, your major perosnal possessions are safe. I thought this was cool. I don't know the original at all, but how can I not give a song about me all 5's?

A well-deserved and funny tribute to TGK. Good-natured ribbing always welcome on this site. d;:^)

The original is by the Platters, not Freddie Mercury, and certainly not the Pretenders, though U2 did a pretty good version of it. And if it were about me, Karlando would wonder what was I doing using his name! (Hell, my lawsuit against The Sports Authority is still pending.)

You are correct that the Platters did the original, but Freddie Mercury had a huge hit with it. I'm an avid U2 fan and I have never heard of a U2 version of this song; it's not on any of their albums....
