The Lyrics

Though not a massive chart topper, this is one of my favorite tunes by this band. Have you ever noticed at times that there seems to be an eternal patina of dirt that covers you after politicians either speak too long or legislate in a foul manner...such as this BS government shutdown and the resulting Sequestration. Do not believe their lies.
To be forced to shut down...through no fault of your own..
The miscreants in DC had to take out another loan...
To be the last in line though upon our backs they live on
This travesty's obscene...treasured only by the ones
Who profit from it

Yet another foul standoff because they spend beyond their means...
The budget knife cuts nothing like a mirage in hot air
Long staying pols...will survive election fights
As the electorate is cast away from the fire light

I would love to put faith in you.. and believe what you say
But this malaise is but a moment
in a long record of betrayal, where no one tells the truth
Everyone stays elected until their purpose fades

Now as the Constitution bleeds, what do you have to say?
Dealmaking in the night there was plenty of perdition
Will we survive through the night electing pols we despise
To survive the distance we all will have to fight
Nobody Wins when there are Sequestration Lies

What happened to this country
When Congress legislates by night
Some would call it my nightmare but it's sequestration Lies
Well like a drunken Captain sailing our ship on the rocks, no one

Of our be laid low with a whip in the air
I no longer believe, or believe what you say
Sequestration Lies
