The Lyrics

Another entry for Ages Round 2. What every student fears in school…tests, exams, pop quizzes, IQ tests, HSPT’s, SAT’s… you name it! Can you imagine studying before the exam at the last minute?
Forty-seven classmates working up a frenzy
A,B,C,D? Answer, what will be?
Sitting in a classroom, heading for the big doom
I’m in the back seat, won’t get caught if I cheat

Teacher’s mean, she is unfair
She stares at us with this evil glare
Stuck to our seats with these exams
Longer, should have studied
Need to take this hard, hard test
This hard, tough test
(Rough test)

Feeling very anxious, dealing with calculus
Questions about hist’ry, answers are a myst’ry
Forty-seven questions, stuck on Number 1
Gotta hurry up, rush it up
I’m way down the bottom

Had brain freeze, gray matter’s bare
I had the urge to pull all my hair
All Greek to me, this chemistry
I am going mental
Dealing with this hard, tough test
I’m in distress
(Much stress)

Aaaargh…

(Instrumental Break)

My head is all filled with air, I’m sweating all around
Got me jittery, fidgety
My head starts to pound
Knowledge had sank, mind drawing blanks
Teacher’s lectures learned, but I had lost track

Turning green, my brain’s been fried
Can’t answer all even if I tried
Faced with defeat with these exams
Stuck with every question
Why’d I have to take this test?
This hard, tough test
This baffling test
(Tough test)
(This) rough test

(Instrumental Break)

Grrr…
Can someone tell me what’s the answer to Question 24?
Is it true or false?
Now, go on tell me
Is the answer to 3x3 is 9?
Jah tell me
Conjure me answers do great minds think alike?
So did that-Sir Thomas Edison invent the first light?
Atomic number of gold, is seventy-nine, right?

Need to pass this hard, tough test
Time is hard-pressed
(Felt tense)

Coming to my dismay
Writing all these essays
Never get to college
With this lack of knowledge
Taking, taking hard test
Gave me, gave me much stress
Feeling dumb, brain is numb
Feeling like a clueless bum

Incomplete, but I don’t care
I’m feeling crushed by all this despair
Turned out that I got a big F
I’ve thrown in the towel
I’ve quit with this hard, tough test
I flunked this test
Won’t take this test (hard test)
(That) dumb test!
Wow, writing this here parody actually felt like I was taking this hard, tough, test!!! No kidding!

Don't. Get. Me. Started. I take Energy Technologies, and that's some tough stuff. And if that wasn't enough Philosophy makes your head spin so fast you wonder what the point is anymore...you score a 555% on this.......test.

Great work here, it made my head spin just like a tough test would. Only problem is that it's a CMM work that looks just like one of mine and may do more to get us confused with each other. We have nearly identical posting styles, were born in the same year, have a few shared interests and are close to the same size, but we look nothing alike... saving my vote and an in-depth comment for Ages...

You capture the emotion and frustration of that time slot, and somehow, still manage to make it nostalgic.

Again you have made my day with a wonderful parody. Thanks, Christie. ;D

Thanks lots, everybody! :)

SamMaster - I. Like. Your. Comment. I wonder what kind of lessons would cover Energy Technologies? Are you studying to be an electrician or something?

Andria - Wow, I never thought that my parody would be familiar to yours. And yes, we're kind of alike in some ways. Glad you enjoyed this. I had other ideas for this Ages contest. At first I was going to use A-ha's Take On Me to Failed, You Cheat, or Men Without Hats' Pop Goes The World to Pop Goes The Quiz. Took me awhile to make up my mind and to write out everything for the parody contest, considering I love 80s music and School and Education is one of my fave topics.

AFW - Enjoyed your comment as always, and I do try hard. However, I kind of screwed up on pacing and stressing syllables on this part-rap, part-reggae spoof similar to the one in the OS. Glad you enjoyed.

OMR - Glad to have made your day! Thanks for v/c...you da man! :)

Renewables. Solar and wind energy stuff.

SamuraiMaster: Until you stated what kind of energy you were studying, I thought you were going to work for the oil companies and contribute to robbing us blind, drilling for oil in the Arctic wildlife refuge & causing more Middle Eastern oil wars, were going to lie to the world about "clean coal" or were going to cause a lot of grief for wildlife and native tribes, and possibly catastrophic dam-failure floods, for making hydroelectric power... (j/k)

(Ages) And now for my in-depth comment: It was well-done, especially for the OS being a tough nut to crack, and your long history as a poet and parodist has paid off... 5s.

Thanks lots, everyone! :)

Samurai - Thanks again, interesting stuff on renewables!

Porfle - Thanks for the A+ :)

Andria - Thanks twice for your awesome comment! Love the joke you made to SamMaster on oil companies. And as for this OS being a tough nut to crack, I was glad to make it an effort to manage it. And yes, it was hard indeed, especially when I had to do that part rap/reggae part, I think I screwed up on the pacing and stressing of syllables because that guy who sang that part in the OS was talking too fast it's pretty hard to keep up. Yes, you could say my poetry had paid off. It got me thinking of Tommy Turtles parodies as well, the way he writes lyrics in a poetic manner, as well as literally pacing and stressing syllables to match the OS.

Because we all know how much I hate the environment. Now I gotta find out how to write a parody of this.

If you thought writing this parody was a test in itself...let me tell you that you passed with flying colors! Great job!

SM - Thanks thrice! Yes, I say go for it!

Abbott - Glad to know that I passed with flying colors, although it's a tough write...Thank you!

Excellent. Perfect OS for this song, I've had this going through my head all day. This is one of my favorites of yours that you've done.

Thanks lots, Jeff! :)...Long time no see and nice to hear from you again! Yes, I've been wanting to spoof this song for a long time and it's one of the toughest to emulate. Like you, I've had this going through my head all day for a few days. And glad you enjoyed this one!

(Ages) Did anyone else think the melody sounded a bit like Subterranean Homesick Blues? Anyway, fantastic parody here, I know I've been in that situation before. I don't think they ever docked me points for writing smart-aleck remarks when I didn't know the answer ;) 555!

AGES...I really enjoyed this...reminded me too much of high school and college...hahaha. Had some issues with a few small internal rhyming bits that might just be my personal preference...but overall, this was a lot of fun!
