Parody Song Title:

"Make Us Poor"

Parody Written by:

Rex Ungericht

The Lyrics

Strange how on Wall Street
That losing billions earns rewards
Strange how they swing deals
To make them rich and make us poor

Look at the bankers
Who chip away at all our cash
Freezing our assets
To use it like their private stash

And don't get me started telling how
Credit card rates are high
Credit card rates go higher
While stores won't take checks and don't like cash
Credit card fees apply
Credit card fees go higher

Raising our taxes
Is how the Congress joins the fray
Pile on the backs of
The people who just pay and pay

Strange how our dollars
All flow to those in charge of money
Strange how their schemes seem
To make them rich and make us poor

Enya was tough to make funny... And while this parody might not have been a laugh riot it brought up a few good points about our government and how sneaky and conniving it is.

Wasn't trying to make this funny, Sir Stove, just commenting on a situation that has affected me, members of my family, and a few million of our closest friends. :-(

Yeah, I feel your pain. Eloquent words on elegant music.

(Artistry) I'm not clicking with this one...maybe it's because I rely more on my parents than the government...maybe it's because I don't live in America. Whatever it is, this one doesn't really work for me. But that's my problem, not yours.

It is my opinion, that a parody does not have to be funny, as long as it has a purpose, and this certainly captured the current predicament we all see before us. To this song, it seems strangely very appropriate as the serene nature of the original present a beautiful opportunity to express political unrest and discomfort , an educated well articulated piece Rex, and it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who does serious parodies. . .

Oooh, a political piece that doesn't say "so-and-so sucks!". Really, well done here Rex, and all too true.
