The Lyrics

I can hardly bear the sight of avril
on the MTV video again
singing 'bout her independance
on her promoter's suggestion
I'm certain
or the thirty-something sad Limp Bizkit frontman
who think's he's down with the kids
but I listened to his last record
and they'd make one much better than he did

what a good year for the posers
Avril's record came out then
though the records were succesful
the last single missed top ten
as they continue to play
their profits they come up roses
there's money record co's can make
it's been a good year for the posers

after Korn took the angst market
I hear rumours that nu-metal will be dead
i know the reason they're not selling:
there's a surfeit of artists with messed-up heads
while a million sales may look good at this time
the next album sinks like a turd
it's a question asked in interviews
"what happens when we're bored of swear words?"

what a good year for the posers
that's nu-metal finished then
along with R'n'B Diva's
guess they're going bankrupt then
as they continue to play
popularity's imploded
a new scene record co's can make
it's been a good year for the posers

Good parody, but just in case you didn't know.......... This song wasn't originally by Elvis Costello--it was originally by country legend George Jones in the 1960s. Elvis is a huge George Jones fan and has turned many rock fans on to George's music, so just wanted to throw that in there. (Elvis also sang a duet with George).
