The Lyrics

Been wnating to parody this one sicne last March I think, finally got an idea and did this
TOYS!
NOISE!
Out on the street there are people
And they're getting their shopping done
All of the malls we're all shopping
And you can blame it on the season
Oh no
We gonna shop down to de mall this afternoon
Then I'll go get some pliers
Oh we gonna shop down to de Saks Fifth Avenue
Don't bring Winona Ryder
Gotta go get lotsa clothes yeah
Already have plasma TV
Cant get no Tickle Me Emo
Just too emo for kids
Good God we gonna flock down to de mall this afternoon
And den we will get tired
Oh we gonna rock down to de mall this afternoon
Until people get fired
Oh no!
Let's go!
Just go!
Oh no!
God no!
Hell no!
Hello!
YeahNO!

We've got more bags than the country
Can't hold another one
Look at all of this commotion
Ran literally into someone
Oh no we need to get out of dis mall here real soon
Or else I'll get de pliers
Oh no we're gonna shock you too with shopping residue
Our shopping spree is higher

Don't drop it please
Clothes not on street
This shopping playground
Made of the whole damn town
Oh we're now done shoppin' and wrappin' all them too
Kids' energy is higher
Kids do not peek into de gifts we got for you
Just wait till you unwrap dem
Shoppin in the daytime (We gonna shop down to de Saks Fifth Avenue, don't bring Winona Ryder)
Shoppin in de night (We gonna shop down to de mall this afternoon
Then I'll go get some pliers)
"Can I open it.mommy?"( de mall this afternoon)
*repeat until fade*

5s all the way, buddy! Too many good points to single out, but "Don't bring Winona Ryder" always elicits a loud chuckle. :)

The person who gave you 322 doesn't have a clue (and is too gutless to justify his votes with a comment) This is up there with your best work, Jack...and this bit:

Oh we gonna shop down to de Saks Fifth Avenue
Don't bring Winona Ryder

...is perfect, the funniest line you've ever come up with, and one of the funniest lines I've read in a while: I'm serious, dude! BRA-freakin-VO! 555+

I hope you don't mind me quoting your PM to me, Jack:

You know you;ve mad eit when KRISTOF ROBERTSON calls it one of the funniest lines he;s ever read!

Amen to that. Especially when Claude Prez comes out of retirement to ditto it. Add me to the list, too; it's a great line in perhaps your best parody yet.

Thanks Spaff!!!! That really mmeans a lot coming form the MASTER of AmIRight parodies!!! I know I feel the same way! My best parody yet? YES! YES! SEE? Thsi is the reaction I wanted an ALL 190 parodies of mine, and it takes me 3 freakin years! YES! YES! I feel like Rocky or something. I guess its too good for John A. Barry, Alvin, AFW and Yoidy

Jack, Jack, Jack.....calm down! Perhaps JAB, Alvin, AFW and Yoidy haven't voted because they don't know the song: I don't think Eddy Grant made much of an impact in the US...read your own first comment, dude! You've done VERY well here, and now's the time to be humble and gracious. :-) Merry Christmas!!!!

(SOTM) A classic couplet, as everyone else has said, in "Saks 5th Avenue/Winona Ryder"! Grimley Fiendish above should note that Montgomery Ward department stores in the U.S. did use the song for their electronics dept.in the 90s, even calling the store section "Electric Avenue".
Chris Bodily TM - January 14, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Great take on TOS, and I, too, didn't get the Elmo joke until I saw the Emo video. I loved the Winona Rider jokes and your lyric subs. This was hilarious 555
Peter Andersson - January 15, 2007 - Report this comment
Since this goes in the SOTM I have to deduct a point on pacing for that missing chorus. It's overall a good solid Christmas shopping song but I think it has room for more funny, so 444. (But I'm with everyone else on the Winona Ryder part, that line was perfect, Amiright at its best!). :-)
Michael McVey - January 25, 2007 - Report this comment
This is one song I've been wanting to attack for a long time, and you did so far better than I probably could have.----MM
Red Ant - January 26, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I voted 555 because even though their were a few pacing blips toward the end, I felt like you listened to TOS to make this parody and IMO the parody didn't suffer at all from the missing chorus. Now that the technical stuff is out of the way, this is very funny: from the aformentioned "Winona Ryder" line to the Tickle Me Emo and the line about the pliers which leaves me wondering what their use would be. One of your best, Jack.
Cat - January 26, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I agree with everyone else, this is definitely one of your best yet. No more praise for the great Winona Ryder line is necessary, I also liked the "shopping residue" part, since I know THAT firsthand! My only qualm is that you missed a chorus after the "Oh no" section, but other than that, nice job.
bobpiecheese - January 26, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Definitely your best so far Jack. I DKTOS though, but it was quite hilarious.

(SOTM) yes, I agree, this is your best parody yet Jack - just the "We gonna shop down to de mall this afternoon" sub alone was excellent, and some other truly LOL lines - keep em coming - 555

This must be my favourite of yours so far, Jack: I remember the OS from when it was released (yes, I am that old), and IMO it works really well. What made it for me was the mental image of the (usually oh, so serious) Eddy Grant singing it :-D

Phil: Thanks! You DO know Ive been here since 2003 right? But yes since my comeback Id consider this my best, and my best ever. Second best? Hmm maybe Coked Up the Reindeer

whoa, there you go! - kudos for thinking of "tickle me emo" first Jack - in my piece I actually had it as "tickle me elmo" (I needed a famous toy) in my first draft, rhyming poorly with "ME know" and it suddenly hit me that the correct rhyme ie. "emo" was funnier
Jack Wilson - May 10, 2007 - Report this comment
Actually, MadTV did it before any of us did, it was a parody of Tickle Me Elmo where the Elmo doll was acting emo and cutting itself and the kid threw it on the couch
