The Lyrics

I've been on a Lord of the Rings kick this year and this seemed like the next logical step to that. This is my second time doing a parody of "We Didn't Start the Fire," and the names/language of Middle Earth plus the rhyming scheme, pacing of the song and the order of events (characters/places with 4 syllables in places where I needed 3 for example) made it much harder than my early Pandemic parody version.
Middle Earth, Second Age, Rings of Power, Elves gave
Sauron forges the One Ring, deep inside Mount Doom
Men and Elves, Isildur Slays, takes the Ring, then betrayed
Found by Gollum, Misty Mountains, Hobbits change world soon.

Hobbiton, birthday, Bilbo wants to go away
One Ring, Baggins Shire, meet in Bree, Orthanc Tower
Merry Pippin, ferry, Prancing Pony, pints need
Second breakfast, Frodo stabbing, Arwen helping Strider!

Throw the ring in the fire
Frodo won’t enjoy it but he must destroy it
Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Secret council, Rivendell, Fellowship and Pony Bill
Gap of Rohan, Caradhas Pass, Moria gleam
Cave troll, Balin’s tomb, saved by mithril, fly fools
Gandalf Grey falls, Lorian witch queen

Mirror, waybread, Gimli’s golden hair from head
River travel, Amon Hen, Boromir wants ring again
Frodo with Sam flees, Merry Pippin orcs seize
Fellowship, in distress, tracking down the hobbits

Throw the ring in the fire
Cause it’s been corrupting since its introduction
Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Jagged rock, Elvish rope, pity Gollum, Sam says nope
Isengard, elf eyes, hobbits with the Uruk-Kai
Elf man dwarf, riddermark, release Rohan monarch
Fangorn Forest inside, with Treebeard the Hobbits hide

Dead Marshes, Helms Deep, warg riders, dawn to East
Oliphant, should go, Sam wanted Po-Tay-Toes
Rangers, Faramir, Arwen dying Elrond fears
Elf battalion, Entmoot, riders trample orc troops

Throw the Ring in the fire
Isengard’s been burning but the tide is turning
Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Ring is found, birthday, Smeagol forced far away
Feasting, pipe weed, Pippin sees burning tree
Minas Tirith Denethor, Light the Beacons aid Gondor
Climb stairs, Ring Wraiths, orcs blitz Osgiliath
Cirith Ungol, Andruil, Dead have their oaths to fill
Sam Gamgee sent away, what else do I have to say?!

Throw the ring in the fire
It will save the shire, throw it in the fire
Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Siege Gondor, Shelob’s den, Samwise Gamgee back again
Thought dead, Sam cries, Denethor, burns dies
Nazgul, terror, Pelennor, Eowyn with her sword
Kills Witch King cause she’s no man, passing of King Theoden

Black Gate battle, Frodo swayed, Gollum struggle, Ring ablaze
Sauron falls, Eagles fly, Kings back, Shire fine
Book has room for little more, Bilbo’s up for adventure
Frodo has to leave the shores, he can’t take it anymore!

Throw the ring in the fire
Frodo’s been averting that his shoulders hurting
Throw the ring in the fire
Even though it’s gone
Still his pain goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on

Throw the ring in the fire
Frodo won’t enjoy it but he must destroy it

Throw the ring in the fire
Cause it’s been corrupting since its introduction

Throw the ring in the fire
Isengard’s been burning but the tide is turning

Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Throw the ring in the fire
It will save the shire, throw it in the fire

Throw the ring in the fire
No, we didn't forge it, but we have to torch it

Another impressive effort with a really difficult OS. Ive had some good ideas for this OS. but then I wave it off cause its just too much work for my ancient brain. ...... This was a big topic here back in the oughties and early teens .. hundreds of parodies. Check out the work of 2NZ (177 parodies) who seem to specialize in LOTR parodies with at least 10. I have one called "Gollumian Rhapsody" where I do the whole thing in Gollumspeak

I got the idea in my head earlier this summer before going to one of the Hobbit Reunion panels. I wanted to look and see if someone had already done something similar but didn't want to have it influence what I wrote. Now that it's out of my system I'll look up the others!

I kept waiting for someone to do "We Must Defend the Shire." I'm not a Ringhead, never read any of the books or seen any of the movies, or I would've done it myself.
