It's war, it's about a bomb- 555! But for the record the largest bombers were the B-36 and Soviet prototypes Myasishchev M-50 and M-52. The MOAB itself is overrated too. Britain had 11 ton Grand Slams in WW2 and the US had 22 ton T-12 Cloudmakers. Russia has the FOAB 44 ton thermobaric weapon (ATBIP).
The MOAB has 9.35 tons of high explosive in it which makes up 86% of the total weight of the package, because a big bang is the whole point. Half the weight of a Grand Slam or Tallboy is in the iron casing so only about 5 tons of each is high explosive. And the T-12 looks like a prototype of the bunker buster models of modern times wherein only 25% of the bomb's weight is high explosive; so I'm guessing the amount of high explosive in a T-12 was less than a MOAB. .... As for the FOAB, well, that one is off the charts. But you know the Russkies; with them it's always "Go big or go home"
I was being sarcastic about the awe of a 11 ton bomb. The percentage thing doesn't matter at all in a bomb. It's what type of explosive(s) and RE factor. The MOAB is greater than a Grand Slam but far less than the FOAB. But even if a Lanc dropped a Grand Slam on the ISIS tunnel network, it probably would have had a similar result with the blast and seismic waves it creates. 5 tons of Torpex is nothing to laugh at and the GS would have penetrated first, then detonated. Btw, German Amatol had a higher RE factor than Torpex.
I matched this against the audio of the execrable OS (ba doom tsssh), and although the pacing is a bit off, it does no harm to the amusing concept of ISIS guys being ba-da-boomed to bits. Glad you left the technical details for the comments. They would have weighed down the parody. 455.
^^ This group was trying to be ironic when it named itself the B-52s, so if you turn it around on them and use their song in a militaristic way, the effect is going to be amusing. I once did a parody of this OS (not here) called "Arc Light" which was actually about using B-52s in Vietnam ..... I'm heading down the Ho Chi Minh Highway; looking for a Commie getaway. Another good line was .. SAM says "Stay away, fool" cause flak rules at the Arc Light
