"Heed Me"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Picture the scene: in the oval office, Donald Rumsfeld trying to persuade George Bush why the US has to invade Iraq...
[Donald]
Heed me. Heed me. Heed me!
Heed me, Georgie
Hear what I say
"You what, Don?"
Listen up now

Heed me, Georgie
Hear what I say
'Cause if you listen closely
You'll do everything.. my way

D'you want to be known as the guy
Who sent our gas prices sky-high?
So before our oil run dry
We gotta git it.
'Cause we want it, Georgie

Ain't that what the army is for?
Supplying the meejah with blood, guts and gore
One thing makes men like you is: WAR
And we'll git it

Hey, I'm your mentor
I'm your pal
I'm your daddy's mate
Listen up, heed me, yeah.
You know the kinda place,
The kinda oil rich states
The kinda oily-shmoily states to invade

Ow! Come on, Georgie,
Don't be a fool
Let's go show the world
Presidential rule
We're the world power, and
The army's our tool
And we'll git it.

[GWB]
I don't know.
I don't know.
I have so...so many strong...reservations.
Should I send...the marines...for invasions?

[Donald]
Think about a war overseas
You on the flight deck, look the bee's knees
Proclaimin' to the world all our victories
Yeah you'll win it...uh huh...

[GWB]
Gee, that uniform's good on me
I'll look great hailing our victory
Shown round the world on a prime-time TV
Let's go git it! woo woo woo!

[Donald]
If you wanna be profound...
If you really gotta justify...
Watch the news and look around...
Some world leaders deserve to die...

If you want a rationale,
It isn't very hard to see.
No, No, No...
Look at Iraq over there:
Looks like they need regime change to me!
Looks like they need regime change to me!
Looks like they need regime change to me!

[GWB]
He's so nasty, treats the Kurds rough!
Ignores the UN, and always talkin' so tough!
We need oil and they got more than enough!
[Donald]
We need oil and they got more than enough!
[Both]
We need oil and they got more than enough!
So, Go Git IT!

DKTOS but it's scary how imagineable that conversation actually is - 555

LSOH is a fun musical (in which my daughter had a role in high school). This parody is well done and exploits some sterotypes; but, since the United States is not controlling Iraqi oil, it would be more appropriate to imagine this dialogue between UN Secretary General Kofi Anan and Benon Sevan (the former UN executive director of the Oil-for-Food program), who perpetrated the Oil-for-Food scandal.

Good night! I can almost hear that conversation, and frankly I wouldn't be suprised if something like that is or has taken place. 555 for you.

I like LSoH, too.. but I lurrve this song, and it's been on my todo list for a while. And as soon as I got the "We need oil and they got more than enough" tagline, the rest pretty much wrote itself... but, JJ, in saying that, you're assuming that Kofi Annan is actually corrup: and I think there's a lot less evidence for him being on the take than there is for Rumsfeld, Halliburton et al. Tell you what, why don't you go ahead and write your version, and we'll see which is the more credible a scenario?
Thanks, Carol and Stuart - I reckoned it had quite a credible feel to it, too :-)

Phil, you are probably correct that Mr. Annan is more incompetent than corrupt, but there was a lot more graft in the UN Oil-for-Food program than in anything the United States is doing with Iraqi oil. Thank you for your invitation to parody the Oil-for-Food scandal. I already did one (last December), and you were the only commenter.
