The Lyrics

Too obvious a song left unspoofed.
Metal on metal
alloys and steel
The harder the better
stainless - that's deal

Metal on metal
from scrap and from ore
Rolled and drop-forged
Turned, cast and bored

Metal on metal
Copper and tin
Rare earths and silver
Lead, gold and zinc

Metal on metal
Smelting the ore
Tapping the furnace
Oh, fiery gore!

Metal on metal
Rolling a beam
Noise is a-deafening
Hear billets scream!

Keep on smelting!
Keep on blasting!
Cast hot metal tonight!
Keep on rolling!
Keep on pounding!
Make that steel, it's all right!

Metal on metal
Is everywhere
Even your bloodstream
Has iron there

Metal on metal
The hardened breed
one hundredth of carbon
And heating treat

Metal on metal
Heat starts to rise
Quench it in water
Come martensite!

Metal on metal
May oxidize -
Rusting, corroding
that's what we fight

Metal on metal
now that's how I feel!
The whole Western culture
is built on the steel!

This could have been a good theme song for the movie version of Atlas Shrugged. Is Ayn Rand known in Finland. One story is that Alyssa Rosenbaum took the name Ayn from a Finnish author. Not sure if that's true. One of the principal characters in "Atlas Shrugged", Hank Reardon, owns a steel mill and has produced a valuable new alloy.

DK the original...but I like to see people parody unique subjects, such as this..

Interesting idea- I may have to do a parody now with Luftschwamm, Viktalen, or modern experimental German tank EM armor. German Leo IIs use a combo of RHA+ 5-layer composite with added modular reactive. Thanks for the idea and 555! Good to see you back :)

Patrick: Yes, she is known here, but she is considered a right-wing extremist and frowned; "a Communist flipped upside down". Scandinavians are very much into lagomhet (moderation) and dislike extremes. [That is also why Communism never caught here.] She got her name after Aino Kallas, a Finnish author. "Aino" is one of the heroines in our national epic, Kalevala. AFW, the Canadian band Anvil is one of the great unknowns in heavy rock. They have done music since early eighties, but they only finally broke trough in 2010. Rob: I am chemical engineer by my education, I was born in an industrial town, and my dad is retired operations engineer. So steelmaking and metallurgy are pretty familiar subjects :)
