The Lyrics

While I'm not really a morning person, I do wake up at roughly 7am every morning (even on my days off) and sleeping until 9 makes me feel like the day is half over. Okay, maybe a little bit of a morning person, but I wanted to write a tribute to those who are not. Original Song
My alarm went off, hit snooze again
Weekend’s gone, don’t want to go in
My job, always stressed, just want to sleep all day
Coffee’s not enough to motivate today

But you smile, I roll my eyes toward you
This is hell, now you’re laughing too
My mug reads “Good Morning...There’s No Such Thing”
This morning really sucks, stop being so cheery!

Way too freakin’ cheerful in the morn
Why’m I working before nine!?
With no coffee, gleeful in the morn
You woke to watch the sun rise
Slept last night, my dreams were nice and long
Now at work until five
And you’re way too freakin’ cheerful
Tone it down, alright!?

And your laugh is making me so pissed
Dial it back, I can’t work like this
I’d sleep, but I dragged myself into my car
I’d rather surf YouTube. Man, you’re the worst by far!

Way too freakin’ cheerful in the morn
That does not make you wise
It makes you annoying in the morn
I stare with my bloodshot eyes
Weekend comes, that’s when I have my fun
Monday morn is a fright
And you’re way too freaking gleeful
In the morn, not right!

You wave and ask me “How are you?”
I said not to speak before two
All the cheer that I will allow
Grumpy Cat is me right now, ‘cause

You’re too freaking cheerful in the morn
Yes, my weekend was fine
‘Cause there are not people at my home
That annoy me all the time
Monday comes, this cubicle is shite
Not made for nine to five
‘Cause there's way too cheerful people
Way too freaking gleeful!
Don’t be happy, people!
At my work, not right!

(Repeat and fade)

I'm one of those people who would sleep in till 11 and think they're getting up early for a change. So I can totally relate to the character in this tune. Good stuff.

(Artistry) The chorus refrain was very good, I liked it---the bland, unassuming music and tempo totally matched well with the parody concept. (Wow Air Supply made a lot of sleepy entries for Artistry, didn't it?)

(Artistry) I'm a weird kind of person. I can SLEEP if I want to, but I'm also able to get up in the morning and not be tired. Once I'm up, I'm up and going. All the energy comes out. So, some would call me a morning person. You would definitely say I'm "too cheerful in the morn" LOL! This good though. The tone of the OS and your spoof, match all too perfectly.

(Artistry) Yeah, this could describe me and my brother. We only recognise one 6 o'clock and AM is not it! Fantastic parody here, despite the dreary OS, 555!

I'm sure we all have been there...right?
