Parody Song Title:

"Hay Bails"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Just picture AC/DC in straw hats doing this little ditty . . .In case some may not know, a Holstein is a breed of cow . . . the black and white ones. For some of you city folk that don't know what cud is, well, it's the hay or whatever the cow chews (a time or two) before "sending" it on to one of its multiple stomachs.
I'm a-rolling oatmeal , and grindin' grain
I'm cuttin' down, my sugar cane
My tractor's runnin' all through the night
It's only cud, but the cows don't mind

I won't take no splinters, won't spare no rye
We'll do the harvest, at day light
I got my bail, I'm gonna take it to sell
We gotta get thru, bailer get thru

CHORUS:
Hay Bails
Yeah, Hay Bails
(You got me rolling,) Hay Bails
The temperature's hot, Hay Bails

I'll feed your black Holsteins up and down the line
If you're into farmin' you're a friend of mine
Drink my white lightnin' as it, will take a bite
'Cause if grain's up for sale, then I'm stickin' to my price!

I won't take no splinters, won't spare no rye
We'll start the harvest, at day light
I got my bail, I'm gonna take it to sell
We gotta get thru, Bailer get thru

CHORUS:
Hay Bails
Yeah, Hay Bails
(You got me rolling,) Hay Bails
The temperature's hot, Hay Bails

Hay Bails!

I LOVE this! (Sorry this is going to take so long to explain, but...) I'm no longer in radio, but a couple of years ago, I worked really hard trying to save a dying radio station. That the two worst jocks ever to speak into a mic or work a board were filling our two full time on-air shifts was the biggest hurdle (and believe me, there were some mighty high ones at that place -- no coverage, no income, no budget, no phone, fines racking up, owner in hiding.... my husband and I were programming the place out of our personal music library and running the studio on our own equipment -- the place lacked everything it needed, but these two were worse than all of that combined.) Our registered format was country -- no specific subcategory. Thanks to Americana falling under the broad country umbrella, that really opened up a lot of possibilities -- we could play a mix of classic country, bluegrass, alt-country, punk-a-billy (anything-a-billy for that matter) country rock, roots rock, delta blues, zydeco, etc. So, anyway, I'm on my way to the weekly staff meeting, one night and the guy covering the shift is playing an AC/DC album straight through. That entire meeting consisted of me arguing with them -- they honestly believed that AC/DC was country -- I kid you not. (I had a lot of equally ridiculous genre arguments at that place, but that's one of the most memorable.) So, I can totally picture the straw hats and bib overalls and I really, REALLY got a kick out of this!!!!! Made my day! By the way -- It's good to have you back!

Loved that first Hayseed Dixie album and I love this; I could hear 'em singin' it. And Melhi, great story--never pictured you as the Andy Travis type.
