The Lyrics

On 8 August 2022, after her thirty years' battle with breast cancer, Aussie pop singer and actress Olivia Newton-John passed away. Many of my fellow-fans of hers remember her for her starring role in Grease alongside John Travolta or for her hits like "Physical." However, this parody, my 122nd on AmIRight but first of Uriah Heep, is about a vision I had following her death. In my vision, she was wearing the same denim outfit she wore on the If You Love Me, Let Me Know album cover from her pop-country phase, and she thanked me for skipping a certain prog band's gig the very night in the very same city I saw Olivia in 2012. Hence the title of my parody, but I'll let the parody tell the rest.
She came to me one evening as I did take to sleeping,
Her long blonde locks a-glistening on that summer night.
I'd known her not in person, though her concert I'd attended,
But her presence there dispelled the trace that lingered of my fright.

Ah, ah, ah, ah, etc.

She spoke to me so softly 'cos 'twas her way of rhetoric.
I asked: "Of all admirers, why did you visit me?"
She replied: "I want to thank you for stepping from your comfort-zone
Ten years ago, when you did spurn Misters Lifeson, Peart and Lee."

Ah, ah, ah, ah, etc.

Then she noticed on my bedroom desk a kanji of the Kitsune
And asked me if I knew the meaning of the symbol clear.
I gave the basics, but she told that she had seen the vulpine mum
Soon as she'd breathed her last. I knew the heavens held her dear.

Ah, ah, ah, ah, etc.

"Oh, Liv," I cried, "I didn't know that with the Kami you now flow."
She grasped me in her ghostly arms and I did feel a peace
That transcends understanding, as in her lovely eyes I gazed;
I can't forget her countenance that made my doubting cease.

Ah, ah, ah, ah, etc.

And having thus paid me a stop, the vision then did quickly drop,
But as her denim outfit faded, I was most renewed.
From this teal rock she now is gone, but how her memory lives on!
I feel a mission-call that from the vision has ensued.
And somewhere in the spirit world, I know she intercedes for us
Who carry on in abjuration of our planet's doom.

Ah, ah, ah, ah, etc.
Rest in peace, Sandra Dee.
