Parody Song Title:

"Dragon Of Pern"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

For anyone who's a fan of Anne McCaffrey.
Makin' a living the Weyrfolk way
Fightin' the Thread each sevenday
Chewin' firestone, belchin' breath that burns
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)

My old Bronze hatched with his brothers
We have our Weyr and we have each other
Every Pass will last for fifty Turns
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)

We're both fine
I hear him speak in my mind
We'll be on guard all times
Until the "all clear" sign
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)

Flying so high and we go betwee-een
Gold and the bronze, brown, blue and gree-een
Talk to the Harpers who teach us what we must learn
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)

We're both fine
I hear him speak in my mind
We'll be on guard all times
Until the "all clear" sign
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)
Dragon of Pern (dragon of Pern)...

DKTOS, but that don't really matter: I do enjoy the Pern books, and this read through sweetly.

This should be a big hit at the next Benden Gather. Fives from me!

Thanks PA and RR. Phil - My brother bought the single when it came out, way back when. The song is now used in a Mitsubishi commerical, apparently having gone between times. See more at http://www.zipposusa.com/mitsubishi/mitsubishisongs.htm Ravyn (or should that be R' vyn?) - Hopefully, this can be used as a Teaching ballad.

I know both the original song & the story of The Dragonriders of Pern --- fantastic parody, Steve, super job here.

sorry, no insult, but i think your song is terrible, because you have a fact or two wrong or vague. i love the Pern series, at least the way Anne wrote them, but you need to read more of them to get a good enough fell of their world to write songs on it. please consider this comment! -A True Pern Fan

Dragonet - For your information, I have read EVERY novel in the Pern series, except for Dragon's Fire, which I only recently started on. The only thing I haven't read are a few short stories, such as "Beyond Between", which are in various collections published separate from the Pern novels. So "a fact or two wrong or vague" makes a song "terrible"? I hope you're not a teacher or professor, because if you grade your students that harshly, your classes are not going to be very popular.
