The Lyrics

The Supreme Court recently ruled against putting caps on campaign contributions.
Money is funny, it has such sway
So much for sunny, I’m sad to say
When it rains it pours and I opine
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)

No fool lends from ivory towers
See the strings to the halls of power
They give coin and join their hips in time
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)

What’s the crime?
They’re saying that
It’s just fine
Fellah, that’s one big dime
You’re all intertwined
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)

Nothing’s for free that’s how I see it
Is freedom at stake when you can’t spend it?
Power for few, a view I won’t abide
Drawin’ a line (drawin’ a line)

What big sign
Will take us to
Peace of mind?
Cash always buys the time
The battle well defined
Drawin’ the line (drawin’ the line)
Drawin’ the line (drawin’ the line)

Just to be clear, Drawin' a Line has dual meanings. The first is the straight line between money and power. It's also the potential line in the sand.

I voted all 5s for you, too... when can we expect our checks? ;) (Kidding!) Fine political commentary here, Mr. Baker.

Well said, but at the risk of being repetitious (Who, TT? Never!) the cure is not to limit a person's right to support whatever cause they wish, but to take away the massive Gov powers, never intended by the Founding Fathers or the Constitution, that give them such valuable favors to sell. No handout power, no buying politicians. 555

OMR- and what a crappy rule it tis.

Thanks, Phil. Much appreciated.

FG-check's, er, in the mail?

TT- Removing power is easier said than done. Unfortunately, any office that administrates any public service handles power. The issue is, and always will be, prompt accountability in a bureaucracy...Hey! I just oxymoroned!

Good job! Politics is a heavily-tread topic here, but they never get old. 555
