The Lyrics

A little snippit of the average graduate's life:
I quickly chose speed to lose you,
Be lying about drinks I had
You caught me; I'm hiding anything that is bad
You say what a price for this drive through,
"Your speed could take lives just for thrills,
I'll tell you, all rules broken, zoned your bad"

He spit out some jargon,
With fines that made me mad
No way to treat new grads

Dad madly told me get job soon,
I'm searching for skills that I got
A match ruins, my current fun I don't want stopped
I'll try any vice than the work blues,
The splendor of fun life's gone bad
Dad said, your Nirvana ends you are a man

Like he saw a Gorgon,
A face of stone he had
My day is steaming mad

No more fooling 'round
Now work I can't face as it's nearer
I miss all those parties, my frat threw
But now fun is fun must pay dues
Mom and Dad I'm young,
And now thanking for, your free ride you'll see,
I'm proving to you

My working hard shows that I grew,
I'm proudly earning all I got
I thank you my life's begun and will reach top
And each penny I earn is for you,
Supported, the good life I had
You'll see now, I've turned out a great young man

I grew from your garden,
Your roots forever Dad
And Mom's, I'm always glad........

Mind the one line: Should be: My DAD is steaming mad...

Could've been funnier near the end of the song but not bad

Great take telling this on an average graduate's POV! And this is a great song from The Who! Growing 555's from your garden!

You can always move back into their basement ... and get a job as an Assembly programmer (or just move to China, and get a job as an assembler, period. ;)

(psst! -- don't let Mom & Dad know that that expensive education is being wasted on writing 555-worthy parodies! Mine still think I have a real job! ;)

Hard-hitting comments on the recklessness of youth, yet poignant in its "coming of age" ending. (And a fine tribute to good Moms and Dads everywhere.) :D 555

"I'm hiding anything that is bad". Tut-tut, shouldn't have had anything bad in the car to start with. Good job it wasn't a Buick - you'd need to hide the entire car. Learned something new - I didn't know that a US cent is also called a penny (& I've used them when I visited NY - don't remember seeing any reference to it while I was there).

Nice progression, and loved the thoughtful ending. I think it summed up things nicely. And a great choice for OS.
