"Long Underwear"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

from the rock opera 'Holidasia'.
Long underwear
It's really cold out there
It's the holiday season
Sky overcast
Now don't dress up light
Because the ground is covered in white
They called a snow day, you're home
Enjoy while it lasts

Snow suit, wool mittens and fleece scarf
12 inches long
I'm layering warmth again, but something is still wrong
Feels right for a snowfight
But I must still complain
That old cap with earflaps is causing me much pain

The kids from school
Have snowcaps that look more cool
Unless I dress just like them
They won't let me dare play
They got slick leather boots
So they give me lots of jeers and hoots
At "boot baggies" tied with rope
On this snow day

Snow suit, wool mittens and fleece scarf
12 inches long
I'm layering warmth again, but something is still wrong
Feels right for a snowfight
But I must still complain
That old cap with earflaps is causing me much pain

Why should it make a difference to them?
Wrapped in our winter wear the identities blend
We play in the same playground--Chuck, Jenny and Ben
Well, on the other hand, should I be proud
Of wearing this snowcap so big and loud?
Might Santa bring a new hat here this season?

I'm coming down
With a cold 'cause I did not wear that crown
My mom says I'm a jerk
For disobeying
Yet all the same
I did play some reindeer games
So worth it to get sick
'Spec'lly Friday morning!

[Television blares "Ralphie! Help me! I can't move my arms!" from the movie A Christmas Story, then the channel is changed to the classic TV special The Year Without A Santa Claus, during the scene where Mrs. Claus talks to the Snow Miser...leading into our next track...]

Funny stuff Aggy... I wish you did more with the choruses, but I can't ask for everything. I liked the reference to "The Christmas Story".

You know I fuss on repeat choruses, but, in this case...it's an artistic choice.

Ya know, Aggy, I enjoyed this parody, and believe it or not, I am wearing, you guessed it, long underwear, while I am writing this comment. I give you 5's straight across.

Never heard the OS, so this one was new to me. Overall not bad, although the first thing I thought of was "a 12 inch scarf isn't that big" haha. Nice work!

(ABC) Maybe it's because I've never experienced playing in the snow, but I really didn't feel this parody. There didn't seem to be much to it than "I'm cold" and even then that element was very downplayed instead of being comedically exaggerated. Maybe it makes more sense in the grander scheme of the rock opera, but as is this was just "existent" for me. Not bad (though the pacing in the first verse was kinda spotty), but nothing special.

Never heard the OS before now. "Enjoy while it lasts" scanned better as "Enjoy it while it lasts". Minor pacing aside, the topic fit the somber tone of the OS. 5's below.

(ABC) This one works better for me out of context than your rock opera stuff usually does. I think this was a simple idea a lot of people can understands, and that's where I'm at. Not hilarious, but cute. Reminds me of that Nickelodeon movie, "Snow Day". That makes me feel nostalgic (Which is a good hung! :))
