Many railroads in big turmoil
Couldn't transport cars or steel coils
Penn Central bankrupt at 2 years old
Some of the freight cars were so ancient

So that's when Conrail came to life
To save all the dying railroads
Changing the industry's rules
All hats off to Conrail!!!!!
Conrail strengthened rail arteries

CSX and Norfolk Southern Rails
Announced their plans to kill Conrail!
Then it happened in June '99
Split Conrail's carcasses right in two!
