One evening I switched on the TV.
I decided to relax a little while...
But as the vitriol assaulted my eyes
I felt defiled....

I found a target for my derision
In general it is TV I despise!!!!
It's been violating my mind for a while,

Listen to your brain slowly dying...
We have the power everyday
Thus empowered, we could turn off the TV!!!
Find a book to read or just go out and play!

But I'm frightened for our children
That their higher functions will slowly cease
As their idiocy and impatience
become a disease...

Watch as your vision is slowly blurring...
Who really needs eyes anyway?
You can save people from the Idiot Box thats speaking.....
Maybe then they could learn something new today!!!

Great job here. I'd like to see more Moody Blues parodied. As for TV distractions, tell me about it! My ex-wife, an articulate and creative woman, thrived on Dallas and Dynasty and all the rest of them. Her explanation was 'Look, I just like watching people pretending to be other people, OK? No way round that!

People who grew up with the TV on seem to find it a comfort thing. The house is empty without it. I've had housemates who'll be cooking in the next room. If I touch the set it's 'Hey, I'm watching that!' And if I'm visiting friends, I find leaving the TV blaring is the height of poor hospitality. Of course I don't say anything but it does make me more reluctant to go visiting them ...
