Song Parodies -> "I'm Jerry Springer - I'm A Rotten Ole Man"

Original Song Title:

"I'm Just A Singer In A Rock'n'Roll Band"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

The Moody Blues

Parody Song Title:

"I'm Jerry Springer - I'm A Rotten Ole Man"

Parody Written by:

Stuart McArthur

The Lyrics

okay, calling him "rotten" might be overstating it a bit, but it just subbed too well into the title...............(listen to the OS here )
I'm just a-wond'ring who's about to give birth
seems that one lady's pregnant
but which one could it be?
and while I'm wond'ring I can't help but observe
if the Martian were here, well what a help he would be
coz since the title of the show
is "Chub-by White Trash
Who've-Fornicated-With-A-Martian" then HE
could - tell - me
I'm Jerry Springer - I'm a shocking old man

A thousand programs (maybe more) have I done
no it isn't an artform
I gotta admit
A thousand programs and I can't recall one
though there's often a Nazi
and somebody gets hit
(sometimes I want to turn my life
around
but y'know
I kinda hafta justify the show
that made me...)
I'm Jerry Springer - I'm a rotten ole man

...please try to understand
I-just do this show because I like to watch these bogans destroy-ing
themselves
and if I don't provide a forum, well they'd keep it to themselves 'n
then the whole world would not know-ow
(thank God for my show-ow)

I host auditioning for all of my shows
every candidate's out
t'get his head on TV
and they all seem like they are average Joes
til they open their mouths
n'show their cretin-ity

But if you want it all to change
HELLO!
the hell NO!
coz it's important that I manage to show...
the - world - that
I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a shocking old man

I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a rotten ole man

....you gotta understand
husband-sharing sisters and their gothic baby-sitters're express-ing
themselves
so when I see a troubled tranny
who's confronting his gay granny
well that ought (ought) to be show-own
ought (ought) to be know-own

Gigolos and legless-ho's
...need their own shows
as do pedophile uncles
(fascinating)
I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a rotten ole man
I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a rotten ole man
KuKluxKlansmen HAVE to have a voice in this world
as do alien lifeform...
classic TV
I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a rotten ole man
I'm Jerry Springer, I'm a rotten ole man

All the gigalos, legless hos, klansmen, gay grannies and troubled trannies and I got together in my double wide and signed a petition to change the programs name to the Very (talented) Stewart Show...on channel 555 (check your local twistings)!
AFW - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Stu-art ! Stu-art ! Stu-art ! ...........Better than Springer..this is the Stuart McArthur Show !
John Barry - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Another fine skewering, this one of Jerry and his Mauronic ilk.

but he can dance pretty smooth

That was very funny and fabulous, Stu. It didn't hurt that it was set to the Moody Blues, one of my favorites. It's also fun to do, huh? 5's and more if I could.
PMS - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
Springing some 5's to you

Irresistible title sub, and what a follow through. Despite the fact that I resemble these remarks, this is Stu-pendous. Sign me up fer yer show, mister.

yes, I should have included insane parodists in there somewhere TJ - thanks

thanks AFW and JAB

yes alvin, and his partner is an Aussie, too, who starred in our own version of the show - I hear ole Jerry comes across as quite likeable - coming off a low base of course ;-)

thanks Pat - I was hoping you'd have a look, with your Moody Blue passion

thanks PMS, and thanks Dirty Hairy - you're on - you can be my first guest - what antisocial traits would you like to express? ;-)
Matthias - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
"But they'll have to tell them all about it, on the Springer Struggle!!!"
Spaff.com - October 18, 2006 - Report this comment
"Rotten" may actually be UNDERstating it. And what Dirty Hairy said.
Red Ant - October 18, 2006 - Report this comment
(Classifides) I see you have a few comments already regarding the pacing; I had trouble too.

Whoops, wrong parody! I thoroughly enjoyed this, Stu, and had NO trouble following it. 555.

LOLI love it!! 555!
Stuart McArthur - October 18, 2006 - Report this comment
whoosh - over my head Matthias - Springer Struggle??

thanks Spaff - I may be the victim of a slick humanising-thru-reality-TV campaign ;-)

lol Red Ant, what a memory! - yes, I confess, if you can't beat 'em join 'em - so, since my last effort on this OS, and the ensuing pacing debate, I have eaten humble pie and come across to the correct-syllable-count-in-all-circumsatnces camp ;-) (I still think there's a case for arguing that baseball and basketball pace identically though, not that I would ever do it!)

thanks Jack#2 :-)

SOTM - I don't think his guests are that extrem, but what do I know, I'm just a Swede who's been radiated by the northern light, had an accidental sex change operation through the zipper, once stumbled and fell in elk poo and prefers to get drunk on cloudberry liquor while evaluating parodies late at night. And that's just for starters...

(SOTM) When I first read the title, I knew I was in for quite a parody. I was right! This parody has everything you could ever want in it. This is a future Amiright classic. 555

SOTM Almost as good as Weird Al's Jerry Springer, 5-5-5
Red Ant - November 25, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) See above, and I LOLd at the "husband-sharing sisters and their gothic baby-sitters're.." verse (again). While I never would say or suggest my way is right or the only way, I will say your pacing here is bulletproof; even a guest of Jerry's on the "I'm an illiterate, dyslexic, inbred, blind, blond and brain-dead Spice Girl wannabe" episode could easily sing along! ;)
bobpiecheese - November 27, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) DKTOS, and I really don't have the time to find it...stupid Internet usage! Oh, and I don't watch Springer, so the whole thing flew over my head.
Agrimorfee - November 27, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Lays it on the line with the singer's justification "......please try to understand/ I-just do this show because I like to watch these bogans destroy-ing themselves" Funnier than Peter Gabriel's "Barry Williams Show" and more fun to sing than Weird Al's "Jerry Springer"!
A. Person - November 27, 2006 - Report this comment
DKTOS, but I love the title.
Michael McVey - November 28, 2006 - Report this comment
Now, the worst parody in the history of amiright, incredibly in it's 13th season (Jer-ry! Jer-ry!)..... No, actually this is a good parody. Go check out my "Ballad of Jerry Springer", though I'm almost sure you DKTOS. -----MM
punctuation cop to michael mcvey - November 28, 2006 - Report this comment
You mean in "its 13th season"--no apostrophe. If you put an apostrophe there, then you have the contraction for "it is", so what you just said was "in it is 13th season"...which doesn't make cents...er, sense.
Phil Alexander - November 29, 2006 - Report this comment
Calling Jerry Springer "rotten" is an overstatement? Shurely you jest?

(^ ps I'm *not* the "punctuation cop"!)

(SOTM) Gay granny? That's a parody idea on its own, Stu. Lovely stuff, mate...but as the president of the Ricki Fan Club (UK Chapter) I must protest a 2nd Springer parody without equal representation for Ms Lake. :-)
2nz - November 29, 2006 - Report this comment
This seems like a very hard song to parody. It sounded painful in terms of fast-paced lyrics over-lapping each other. Nice work tackling it and very solid lyrics, Stu.

SOTM - Jerry Spring, rotten? I dunno. Stale? Yes. Moldy? Probably. Decomposing? Only inside his head.

I think you covered the show pretty dang well. My "top's" off to anybody who can successfully pull this song off, and of course our very own Stuart McArthur not only did this OS once, but twice! Congrats my good man.
Red Ant - December 28, 2007 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Not much more to add here except to say it's still excellent... and if you added lines about paternity tests and changed the "Jerry Springer" to "Maury Povich" you'd have an entirely new parody. =)

(Artistry) A rerun worth watching (reading) again!

(Artistry) 2 years after first reading this, I can appreciate this on a whole new level. Mainly because I read it more carefully than last time since I completely forgot about it. Here's another 555 for the hell of it!

(Artistry) Excellent work, and for some reason "cretin-ity" really tickled my funny bone.
Below Average Dave (badave.com) - January 11, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) I can't pinpoint why, but the whole thing was hilarious. . .oh that's right you combined the stupid with the brilliants (Jerry Springer Shows with Stu) oh-wait--the show itself does that all the time, anyway, awesome job, on a song that is really hard to follow.
