The Lyrics

Another unreleased pre-2014 effort: Original song on YouTube

Trends have swung toward glo-
bal economy, but why?
I was smug and warm here
With my nat’nalistic pride
Xenophobic warblings
Follow in this song, take care
Why, certain crap has
Left me in despair!

All them German fridges and those Japanese TVs
‘Palled upon revealing I’ve a furnace from Belize
Every tongue has crept to drown my fine vernacular
Foreign hordes have blossomed on my shore

Nowhere here at home can I find jobs, where did they go?
Many things imported were sent from Mexico
The Indian call centre scene:
Means jobs that crept away
So why is it top dollar I still pay?

For, I yearn for fifties, things were isolation-y
Bureaucratic dealings seen us turn to overseas
Retrospect, my heart it pines: sweet times of cold-ish war
Yearn for things made not in Bangalore

Years have passed - the world is shrinking
Global pool’s the scene
Dinars, Drachmas (Dollar’s arse up)
Rupee and the Yen
I s’pose that I must change my thoughts – will sink if I don’t swim
Oh hell! I’ll just stay up the shallow end!

All them German fridges and those Japanese TVs
Cards that I am dealing come from Coast that’s Ivory
Calvin Klein - I’ll bet I’ll find’s made in El Salvador
Spurned are home-made items at the store

Yearn for somethin’ made here - but no more...

Why dont we all knock off the negatives waves around here. Why cant we dig how beautiful Pip's pacing is? Why cant we do something righteous for a change and give Pip three fives?

Some of you readers who are still young enough to have children may not dig that first comment. So dig it, Baby, do yourself a favor and look up the movie, "Kelly Heroes" Im a character in it .. a hippie tank commander in WWII. And Pippin's OS is in the final credits Baby. I could be truthful and say the OS is a total POS ... but then I'd be sending out more negative waves, and we just cant have that anymore

German fridges fitted in so well & I liked Coast that’s Ivory. Didn't know the OS although would have heard it 40odd years ago when I saw the film.

You should Google it up, Baby. It plays in the final credits. Its the most amateurish awful song you'll ever hear and has no connection to the film at all. But I'm not sending out negative waves here because that's the whole point. Its like a complete non sequitur, Baby, so its totally hilarious and righteous. And dig the band's name, "The Mike Curb Congregation" What the hell kind of name is that?
