Why weren't these guys concerned about voter fraud in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004?
Why do we insist on photo ID to buy a train ticket, but not for voting. I know of a fellow who voted 5 times in 2008. No ID required, poll workers went to the soup kitchens and signed up everyone they could find without asking for proof of ID or residence. He used different names on different days in different places. Why not issue photo registration cards? That would make more jobs for bureaucrats.

Voter fraud in Florida in 2000, Mike? Are you referring to the fact that the networks prematurely called Florida for Al Gore, knowing this would discourage thousands of Republican voters in the Florida panhandle, which is in the Central Time Zone? Is that the voter fraud you're talking about?
No, I believe Mike is referring to the fraud that took place when Georgie's BROTHER, who was (ahem) the GOVERNOR of the state in question quashed the recount before it could be completed and had the (ahem) right-wing Supreme Court seal the deal.

Callmelennie - don't you think that's a hazy, unprovable conspiracy-theory sort of accusation when compared to the well-documented attempts to remove people from the electoral register for having the same name as a convicted felon? (or, in Ohio 04 the statistical implausibilty of exit polls showing a higher divergence from actual vote based on the voting hardware used and whether it kept an audit trail.. that this last one didn't cause a major outcry simply shows how statistically-illiterate nearly everybody is.)

Now Jeff, is it right wing to think that there's something fishy about a hand recount that is taking place SOLELY in the four counties where Dem voting was the highest. And is it right wing to think that this violates the equal protection rights of the remaining 67% of the people of Florida? Because 7 out of 9 Justices thought so; and you're not seriously going to argue that 77% of the Supreme Court is right wing? .... And seeing as how a longstanding law mandates that the Electoral College certify a the winner on Jan 12, three days after this ruling, what exactly was the Court supposed to do; give Al Gore two days to win a recount with his non-existent Plan B?
