Neat switcheroo, Susanna. I like the way you write about the music industry itself. When I look at some of those 80s videos now they really look so embarrassingly plastic. But I still love watching musicians work live (if they are making music and not just cranking out hits for sycophantic, hysterical, delirious adolescents).
I remember when my Dad got cable TV, about the time the first music videos hit the airwaves. Some are quite clever. "Some Nights" on youtube is even better than the song itself. A friend of mine had one of the first copies of Video Killed the Radio Star, which apparently was the first MTV video. It was on a 45 rpm sent to him by his sister who lived in England.
