Original Song Title:

"Let It Be"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Make It So"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

The Enterprise is in deep trouble
Captain Picard knows, you know
Speaking words of wisdom "Make it so"
And in their hour of darkness,
So brightly shines Jean-Luc's ego
Speaking words of wisdom "Make it so"
Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Make it So

And if that broken-thrustered spaceship
Finally decides to go
They will be in warp drive, make it so
For though they're mired in custard, there is
Still a chance Picard and Co
They will find the answer, make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: make it so

[Instrumental]

Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: make it so

And when the crew get rowdy
When they start a fight in some bistro
Come on, Jean-Luc Picard, make it so
I wake up to the sound of Klingons
(Tinky-winky, Dipsy, Po)
Speaking words in Klingon, make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
There will be an answer, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Make it so, Make it so
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Make it So

Not your best, but not bad. I got something out of it as a Star Trek fan.

It doesn't flow very well, like the pacing's a tad forced, but I thought it was cool anyway :)
Ghetto John - January 17, 2003 - Report this comment
decent, yet still pretty good but then again who am i to judge.

How'd ya get "Make it So" outta "Let It Be"? I don't understand, but Star Trek is funny when used in a cult-like way.

"Make it So" comes out of "Let it be" simply because it's something J-L Picard has said in every episode of ST-TNG I've watched, and it scans... Not the most intellectually-challenging parody I've written, 'tis true, but an amusing diversion

I appreciated the humor, being a former STNG fan. But I must have missed the episode where the crew fights in a bistro! :)

"Highly illogical," but "intriguing." As for the fight in a bistro, they did bring back Scotty, so maybe the episode with the fight, which we didn't see, is Scotty finally learning how to change the laws of physics!

OK, OK, so I made up the bit about the bistro... maybe I was getting confused with Red Dwarf ;-) Tell the truth, it was a temporary line, put in for the rhyme while I finished the rest of the song, but by then I liked the line too much to get rid of it.

Not one of your best, Phil, but it hits me personally. I proposed to my wife with a song I wrote, and 2 days later she accepted officially with a "Trek-themed" song she wrote called "Make It So" full of Trek puns. Now we're both here. Like she said on our wedding night, "Make it grow."

:-) That's very sweet, Rick... Did it include the old trekkie pun:
Ryker: Captain, I'm afraid the old Singer's broken again
Picard: Make it Sew

I'm proud to have been the 23rd vote on this wonderful parody! Well done, Phil - keep writing - engage! (P.S. Anybody get the reference to "23" ?)
Phil Alexander - October 27, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks Johnny... reference to '23'? Apart from being the day I was born on, you mean?
Johnny D - October 27, 2003 - Report this comment
Wow, Phil, major spooky coincidence time, dude - you were born on the 23rd? Check out this website....look for the reference to "Star Trek":
http://afgen.com/numbr23b.html
Both my wife and I have always joked with each other about how Star Trek TNG's writers always seemed to slip a "23" into almost every episode's script. That website is meant to be entertaining and humorous, by the way - I certainly don't think there's anything going on more than a lot of very, very FUNNY coincidences !!! You could probably come up with a similar list for ANY number !

This parody is logical but quite irregular.
