The band you're leading it earns your pay,
You got a little wild wife whose lots of fun.
And yes she's of mind to share herself, and play your club,
She acts a little strange but smart.

Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
Ain't like Lucille Ball's somebody else.
So aloft she makes better, you yourself.
Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
She's the only wife you've known.
You can't use her and you can't let her,
Play your trombone.

Rick invites friends to town, Lu plays her game,
Ever she's contriving for show band go.
But she stays denied to attain place on show,
But please don't ever change that heart.

Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
Down across the hall your buddy Mertz,
'29 took a header, he still hurts.
Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
She's so lonely left at home,
You can't use her and you won't let her,
Play saxophone.

------ Instrumental Break ------

Now 'splain yourself's a favorite line,
But who knows what's in Lucy's mind?
Withstood the jabs; acclaimed your parts.

Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
Show's 'bout Lucy Ball she's Ricky's spouse,
The first in bed together in their house.
Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
She's not homely, just stays home,
If you'd use her she'd feel much better,
On saxophone.

Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
Ricky don't Lucy love ya?
Ricky don't Lucy love ya?

Still love those old Lucy reruns,a nd love this parody. Liked the "She's not homely ..." LB was just too, too ... as "Lucy" but a real knockout in some of her earlier films.

Brilliant, nostalgic, and as always, masterful syllable-matching. 555.

looking at some of the original ~ I Love Lucy ~ shows, I see that she was a beautiful woman! i never had appreciated that aspect of LB. The show were she is really pregnant with Little Ricci, and Desi sings to her ~ My Baby is Having My Baby~ is a great episode!

I love this song. My BFF has DVD's of "I Love Lucy" and she enjoys it a whole lot. I'm a big Lucy fan myself. Sometimes I watch the show on TV Land. Lyrics are organized, fluently paced, and parallels the OS. 555.

I'm on the outer here, never been fond of LB...(ducks incoming...). But the parody is a good read :)

(SOTM) I enjoyed this as well, very well matched to the OS. I know enough about the show to get a lot out of this :)

Sir Guy, ~ Marquis de Lustie Parodie~ I seem to recall ' twin beds' though ? ? ? No double beds for TVLand in those days . . .

(SOTM) Pretty good love letter to the show...Weird Al's "Ricky" is still tops in that tribute.
Matthias - December 10, 2008 - Report this comment
I probably am the only person out there to never see a complete episode of "I Love Lucy" so I can't really vote on the humor of this as it stands out to be just a tribute and tributes are good if I know who you're tributeing.

You always pace good etc but I had a hard time channeling this one, I take it you can probably guess why pretty easy knowing where I'm from etc.

It sounds-a-like something good to me. No 'splaining needed. Lucy is a bit before my time, but I can appreciate this.
bobpiecheese - December 26, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Basically what Matthias said. Don't know anything about 'I Love Lucy' beyond Weird Al's 'Ricky', so I can't appreciate this as well as other people can.

(SOTM) when it comes to syllable-matching you are a true master and this is one of the best syllable-matched titles I've seen, Guy - I judge less on humour with this type of parody because I know the priority is the syllable-match, and this was a beauty - 555

(SOTM) Very well written, and despite it's age, I Love Lucy is still among the funniest things on TV, way ahead of it's time it was--Lucy will always be remember as a comic genius
Ethan Mawyer - December 31, 2008 - Report this comment
There was a lot of clever syllable matching, but sometimes it seemed to be that playing on almost every syllable might've interrupted the flow more than it helped with humor. A couple of the lines seemed a little too long too. It's not a bad parody, but it doesn't stand out to me in a positive way as much as most of the other entries this month do. Could be in part because i never watched much Lucy either.
