The Lyrics

This parody is about a car that I once saw sitting in someone's yard in the "Felony Flats" section of my hometown, and before I could inquire, the car was moved. In the interest of sounding more poetic like the OS, I changed "front yard" to "junkyard" and I wrote the song as an ode to a 1964 Buick Skylark two-door hardtop with a V-6 engine (the first production American V-6, Lancia of Italy built the first V-6 in the world)
She's faced the hardest times
In the old junkyard
And many times, I walked by that old Skylark
And when I looked at that old Skylark
I saw a 225 V-6 and lots of rust
I knew that I could restore that car
But the junkyard owner, I knew
Would sell the car for scrap

I can dream, but not restore
My Skylark just got crushed
A valuable classic car, wasted

And if by chance I find her again
Had the junkman not crushed her
But if allowed one project car
I would tow her to my garage and make her like new

Be careful what you wish for
For I might restore her, and she deserves that most
You won't believe
That the 225 V-6 was America's first
Though her condition may have been worst
And my garage is empty, so without a project I will go

I can dream but not restore
My Skylark just got crushed
A valuable classic car, wasted
