The Lyrics

Why the 25th Anniversary tag? Well, the Pittsburgh Pirates are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their last World Championship team, and they're bringing back every surviving player from that team to be honored at PNC Park (Willie Stargell died a few years ago). And of course, if you were alive in '79, you'll remember they always played this song at old Three Rivers.
We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!
We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!

Don't you still remember when we played the game
Did it all for love
(Love!) Never at all did we hold out for money
I won't tell no lies
(All!) All of the fans still believe we're the best
The best Pirates team of all
Don't deny that we did it, did it all for the loyal fans

We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!
We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!

The game is always fun and they've just begun
We taught the young ones to have some fun
(Say!) Said these boys are the future
Let's play tonight
(We!) No we don't mess around with
The tradition of the black and gold
We've passed it down to our little sons
So that they will pass it down to their own

We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!
We're still family, I got all my sons with me
We're still family, get up, everybody and play!...

Great parody. I wasn't around then, but I first thought that "25th Anniversary Edition" meant the 25th anniversary of the original song's release, since I happen to know that it came out 25 years ago.

I was thinking the same thing myself until I clicked on it, and then found out it was about baseball. You did a nice job with it; I voted 5-5-5. By the way, I was alive then but I don't remember anything about the event; I was too small.

As a diehard Pirate fan (recently, mostly dying) I loved this parody. Maybe we can get the 1979 Pirates kids to suit up for real! Couldn't hurt!

Orioles fan - hate the Pirates, hate Willie Stargell, hate the song!! :P Sure do love the game, though. Nice job.

I, too, thought that this parody was gonna honor the original song; since the title kinda implied that...boy was I misled! But it was good anyway; I vote fives.
