The Lyrics

This is dedicated to Claude Prez in response to a comment he
made...I was watching that day, too, Claude
I am Janet Jackson and my story's being told
I let Timberlake undress me
Before throngs and throngs of people at the Super Bowl
He bared my chest--everybody sat and stared at it
And forgot all the rest
hmmmm

When I left the stage at the Super Bowl
I was known both far and wide
Let my boob hang out for strangers
And before that I gyrated in some slinky clothes
Justin knows--we were feeling up each other
At the halftime super show
Sexy dancing, well you know just how it goes...

Just untie, just untie untie untie
Just untie, just untie untie untie
Justin, just untie

Well I didn't try to duck it, I showed up before the press
yes I had a little story
We had practiced but it all went just a little far
I do declare, there are times when it just doesn't help
To have on underwear
hmmmmmm

Now the days are rollin' by me
and my album's selling fine
I am older but still sexy and I look so good
Misunderstood--
Exhibitionists are often just so darned misunderstood
Exhibitionists are so misunderstood

Just untie, just untie untie untie
Just untie, just untie untie untie, Justin just untie

Now I'm sewing up my tattered clothes
And glad that I'm back home, I'm back home
Where my understanding family is supporting me
Supporting me, back at home

In the clearing stands two dancers, Justin Timberlake and me
And the fans took back reminders
Of that day in February
Etched forever on their brains
Oh the Super Bowl is over but the spectacle remains
Yes it still remains....

Just untie, just untie untie untie
Just untie, just untie untie untie, Justin, just untie

Utterly brilliant, Royce: the best of the Janet songs so far, IMO (and I'm including mine in that list)

Phil--Well thank you so much; I have to tell you, the song "The Boxer" is one of my favorite--lyrically, wow, what a story it tells.

Excellent.

Janet Jackson - Recruiter for Hooters!

Well done, Royce - clever and funny! 5's

I've been trying to keep abreast of all the developments in this case. Glad I didn't miss this one. This one was well done, Royce.

I'm pretty tired of the subject, but you did this really well.
Claude Prez - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Wow, a dedication; thanks Royce and great work too, you almost made these people sound important.

I usually avoid parodies if the subject has been covered by a lot of others, which this has. But Rick made me read this one and I thought that it was excellent!

Phil's assessment is probably correct - there is a lot of wit and wisdom in this parody. "And forgot all the rest" is sad, but true.
Art Garfunkel - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Ah, another instance of the last two letters in my last name being transposed. But it was a good parody of our song.

Art---Yes I have spelled your name wrong before and I did it again; I bet it's been fun going through life with a name like Garfunkel.
Fart Carbuncle - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Not nearly half as much as fun as going through life with a name like "Fart Carbuncle".
Calista Flockhart - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Oh yeah? Imagine having MY weirdo name.

Royce - this is a Masterpiece! Hope it makes the top ten - it deserves it!

I appreciate the comments and votes-Phil, I thought the funniest Janet parody was written by Robert Pagliaro.
Michael Pacholek - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Probably the best one yet written about Janet's treasured chest. And Calista, you wish you had Janet's "problem." Even if you are the second-best entertainer ever to come out of Freehold, New Jersey (if you count the Township, not the Borough like you-know-how).
Peregrin - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Brilliant Royce! Excellent!
Robert J. Pagliaro - February 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Hell of a job - "just untie" was perfect - a masterpiece here. (Thank you for the kind words. BTW, went to the message board but didn't see anything.)

Spectitular
Phil Alexander - February 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Royce, we must agree to disagree - no offence, Robert; having said that, I was hampered to some extent with your offering by not knowing the original tune... and this one is an old favourite.
Diva - February 19, 2004 - Report this comment
This is one of your best ever! Great Work! =)

You took the best S&G song and made it even better . Words can't do this justice, this speaks for itself. 555
