The Lyrics

not sure if Rick Springfield recorded this in 70's or 80's
Jack(o) was black
Can't get his skin tone back
And he ain't gray
He's white as snow today, oh oh
But what can he do?
At least he didn't turn some shade of blue

If he had his way
He'd get back his face?
He didn't intend
To be this white back then, oh oh
What can he do?
At least he didn't turn some shade of blue

Did he choose
His features to lose?
His nose ain't long
Wow! Maybe if time
Could all be rewound
Then it wouldn't be wrong

Say he's bad?
His day in court he'll have
It's time, it's time
He gave his piece of mind, oh oh
What can he do?
At least he didn't turn some shade of blue

Did he choose
His features to lose?
His chin's so long
Wow! Maybe if time
Could just rewind
It wouldn't go wrong

Jack(o) was black
He keeps his kids in wraps
It's gray, it's gray
Out of the sun all day, oh oh
What can he do
At least he didn't turn some shade of blue
At least he didn't turn some shade of blue

I don't even know if Springfield recorded it. But the original was done by Los Bravos in 1965.

Jonathan, Rick S. did record it, after Los Bravos, and I hope someone will tell me when.

Jacko turn a shade of blue? Don't give him any ideas!

Royce: hate to break it to ya, but my version is from 1981. But I'm not gonna summon the decade police to give you a ticket, because you said you didn't know for sure. Now you do know. (Like I said, no ticket.)

"Rick"--thanks for the information. I couldn't find it on the internet, but I saw that the song is on your "Legendary" album--are you recording these days?

Jack(o)'s wacked
He comes in baby's back
He's plainly gay
But in the NAMBLA way, sicko

I think blue might be coming up next, Royce - the bizarre thing is, if he could go back twenty years, knowing what he does now, I reckon he'd do it all over again - weird - 555

Yeah, I still do record, but periodically. In fact, I released an album just last year. And I am going on tour this year. Check out my web site, www.rickspringfield.com, for more info.
And I gotta say that this was a fantastic parody of this song. So I'm giving it a 5-5-5.

It's hard to believe that he actually chose which features to lose. Well done, Royce.

Sorry about the late feedback, Royce...but this was well done, and a great song choice. I didn't even know Rick recorded this one. 555
