Parody Song Title:

"CF-105 Arrow"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

This is 4th in the RFS song parodies and deals with what was, even in the prototype stage, the world's greatest interceptor under construction and not built by the US nor USSR- but Canada. It was to be a Mach 2.5 delta reaching 60,000 ft to defend against Soviet bombers crossing the N Pole and flying over Canada to attack US targets. The Canadians went all-out on this project with even home- grown Iroquois engines (PS-13s) that would have been the world's most powerful at that time. There is much debate over the cause of the CF-105 cancellation and conspiracy theory of US interference and coersion to buy American instead. Regardless, the CF-105 Arrow was lost entirely with not only the plans and tooling destroyed, but orders to cut-up all 6 of the prototypes. A Black Day for Canada indeed...
Cherished Lost Cause
RCAF delta interceptor
Wings swept 60 degrees
You were never meant to be

A marvel of technology
Made of magnesium and titanium
Home-grown Iroquois engines
Canadian cities, you would defend them

CF-105 Arrow
Canadian interceptor
A world-beater
In day and night weather

US was jealous
Put up the pressure
Buy American or else
We’ll down Soviet bombers (over Canada)

6 prototypes were built
Flying just 70 hours
They held high hopes
Of Canadian Air Power

But then came “Black Friday”
Canadian workers became cross
PM Diefenbaker cancelled the program
15,000 jobs instantly lost

Destroyed all documents and jigs
Destroyed the prototypes- everything
Iroquois lost too
Canada purchased 66 Voodoos (F-101B/F)

CF-105 Arrow
Canadian interceptor
A world-beater
In day and night weather

US was jealous
Put up the pressure
Buy American or else
We’ll down Soviet bombers (over Canada)

Canada never forgot
What might have been
Mach 2.5 interceptor
With the very best weapons

Was it the costs?
The Iroquoi engines?
BOMARC missile sales?
Canada in a recession?

… or US intentions???

CF-105 Arrow
Canadian interceptor
A world-beater
In day and night weather

US was jealous
Put up the pressure
Buy American or else
We’ll down Soviet bombers (over Canada)

CF-105 never became part of history
But remains forever in Canadian fantasy
Lost Cause interceptor
Possibly could have been Mk. IV Waverider

CF-105 Arrow
Canadian interceptor
A world-beater
In day and night weather

US was jealous
Put up the pressure
Buy American or else
We’ll down Soviet bombers (over Canada)

Not familiar with the original song, but I have heard of the plane. What's with destroying prototypes and tooling? These politicians never hear of a museum? Same fate to the Lockheed XB Flying Wings. Cut to pieces. US could have had stealth bomber decades sooner. McNamara destroyed the SR-71 tooling. We would soon need that plane's unique capabilities again. Some things can't be done with a satellite.

Rob, any thoughts of doing a parody featuring my favorite plane the TSR.2???

The irony of being 1-2 bombed while also getting requests now??? On a serious note though HH... maybe, but I would like to do the Vulcan and Concorde first. Patrick, the USAF DID have a stealth a/c in their possession in 1945- the captured Horten Ho-IX jet flying wing ;-D

Some folks vote and don't comment, some comment and don't vote. From the number in the lower corner, looks like most don't do either one.
