Parody Song Title:

"Pitiful Scum"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

from the rock opera "The Pile of Bricks".
Hello, is there anyone awake here?
Just move one fingers for Yes
Move two fingers for No
C'mon now, let's make a paper airplane—Wow!
I can make a plane
Do you know that jerk named Jane?
Hey Max, you going to the concert, dude?
No, I'm grounded again
Oh boy, look at all these nerds

This is not pain we are receiving
It's just a place that we have no fun in
Because in this room, it's hot and humid
It makes our heads feel like lead balloons
No one absolutely cares at all
It's just life in the study hall
And that's about it all
I have become Pitiful Scum

OK, I'm going to play a little trick
I'll get up and go AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
And tell the Teacher I feel a little sick
But can I stand up?
My nerves aren't working very good
There is a numbness in my butt
That kid over there is a nut

This is not pain we are receiving
It's just a place we have no fun in
When we were young, we were cute little shrimps
Just learning how to dot the I
We were waiting for recess, but now it's gone
It has been replaced by study hall now
Ennui has grown, our brains are gone
We have become Pitiful Scum

(ABC) It confused me at first about what your subject was, but a witty parody overall.

Your description fits in well with how I feel listening to Pink Floyd

(ABC) "There is a numbness in my butt" ... yeah, Amiright'll do that to ya from time to time.

DKTOS, or the original subject, but still fun.

P: (Whistful sigh) We never quite get over losing recess, do we? Fine job, Agrimorfee!

(ABC, again) Listened to mp3 of "Comfortably Numb" while reading this parody....I must agree with Paul Robinson, Agri, you really captured the tone of the original. Well done!

Don't know the rock opera, but still enjoyed the song.

Not too sure what you're on about in this parody. It's a bit confusing to a casual reader who isn't fallowing the rock opera you wrote (and doesn't really stand out as a stand alone song). Not bad but I think your newer stuff is better.

I'm not sure what you missed here, Matthias, it is a song about Study Hall time, and one doesn't need to know the context of my "rock opera" to follow it (just like the OS).

(Artistry) Remember - the first rule of study hall is that there's no studying in study hall. You brought back some memories with this one.

(Artistry) How unfortunate that I wasn't around yet to get to see the rock opera as a whole as it progressed. This was pretty good though. It makes me wanna continue and back track to see the rest of the opera!

I actually wrote the bulk of it throughout the 1980s, hence some of the technical flaws throughout. It has some recurring characters, wacky situations that I observed in my time as a High School Student, but not really a plot to speak of. Jump to "The Pile of Bricks (full album)" on my author page if you'd care to catch it. I am still quite proud of it to this day.

Sorry buddy, I didn't really get into this one as much as some of your other Pink Floyd parodies. . .I, like Matty, was confused at first--until study hall was mentioned. . .I've actually never been in one of those interestingly. . .but I have an understanding of what they are and can see where you were going, overall its okay--just not a favorite in my opinion. . .

(Artistry) Ah, study hall, one of those conventions of education that I wasn't privy to, though whether that's to blame on my school being in Australia or my school being Christian is unknown to me. Perhaps because of my unfamiliarity with the concept of study hall I couldn't really get into this parody. The fact that it's part of a series doesn't really help either. Um...yeah.
