Song Parodies -> "Dartboard"

Original Song Title:

"Money"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Pink Floyd

Parody Song Title:

"Dartboard"

Parody Written by:

Dylan Baranski

The Lyrics

My first Pink Floyd parody. I don't know why I haven't been writing parodies as frequently as I've done in the past, but my mom tells me not to worry about it. Anyways, the title refers to a game I made up. You see, I've parodied some obscure songs in the past, and one reason I've done this is because I want to shed light on some untouched gems & hope that at least one will become a hit with the community. Anyways, enjoy the parody. DKTOS (Don't Know The Original Song?)
Dartboard,
It’s a game,
Where some random obscure song could get some fame.

Dartboard,
Pick one out.
Find some old song that few people heard about.

Space Rock, Step By Step, Duke’s Train, Robot,*
There surely are a lot!

Dartboard,
I made it up.
Who knows what new old hits will pop up?

Dartboard,
What will hit?
Which ones will stay in that dark, obscure pit?

If you keep digging long enough,
You might find something that other people think is real phat!

[instrumental break]

Dartboard,
It’s no crime
To find unknown songs that are super prime.

Dartboard,
It’s the wave
Of the future, so explore the song cave!

But there are some songs that deserve
To be left in that pit, for they’ve no verve.
No verve…[echoes]

(Guy 1): Hey George, how’s it going?

(Guy 2): Fine. What about you, Ray?
(Guy 1): I’m fine, too.

(Guy 1): By the way, George, I ran into this strange song when I was surfing the internet the day before yesterday.

(Guy 2): Really? What song?

(Guy 1): It’s a song called “Roller Disco” by Citi. I’ve never heard of this band before, but it’s a cool song. You want me to play it?

(Guy 2): Okay. I don’t mind disco that much.

(Guy 1): Okay then.

[starts playing part of “Roller Disco” by Citi]

(Guy 2): Hey, this is some song you’ve dug up! I gotta tell some of my friends about this song! It could be a real hit! I don’t know how anyone missed this gem for so long!

(Guy 1): Me neither. I should keep looking for lost songs! Who knows what’ll hit? It’s almost like throwing darts at a dartboard!

[fade out]
*Refers to the following songs: "Space Rock" by the Rockets, "Step By Step" by Peter Griffin (I'm not kidding), "Duke's Train" by Extensions From Area Code (212), & "Robot" by David Zed. I have parodies planned for some of these.

Grab that cash with both hands & make a stash!

This is Amiright's #1 Pink Floyd fan and #1 Obscure Song Parodist...and I give you 455 for a parody that really appealed to me on both of those levels! :) (I never heard of those songs you cited...when you do them, how about including a youtube or a free mp3 link in your intros? Thanks!)

I always do that for obscure songs. Recently, I've started doing it for all songs no matter how popular.

I wasn't sure I was going to like a song about a made-up game, but it's AWESOME!!! Even though I don't know all the songs you parody (I go find them from your links, thanks!), your lyrics are always dead-on to your topics! Great job! -Your #1 fan
