| Original Song Title: | "Mother and Child Reunion" |
| Original Performer: | Paul Simon |
| Parody Song Title: | "Adoptee and Mom Reunion" |
| Parody Written by: | Mari Aranoff |
If you're adopted (like me) and search for your birth parents, you never know what you'll find. The same goes for birth parents. I was in an adoptee/birth parent search and support group several years ago and met the inspiration for this one.
Won't you try not to get freaked out?
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
So, when I saw your e-mail
I read it excitedly
Saw why you gave me away
And how you'd like to meet me
Though you had named me Christopher,
Now you can call me Christine...
Won't you try not to get freaked out?
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
I was once your baby boy
So it won't be hard to tell
That I have your nose and eyes
And maybe your boobs as well
And you thought YOU had a surprise!
Though you had named me Christopher
Now you can call me Christine...
Won't you try not to get freaked out?
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
Oh no - that adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
The adoptee and mom reunion
Will show I'm no longer a man
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
So, when I saw your e-mail
I read it excitedly
Saw why you gave me away
And how you'd like to meet me
Though you had named me Christopher,
Now you can call me Christine...
Won't you try not to get freaked out?
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
I was once your baby boy
So it won't be hard to tell
That I have your nose and eyes
And maybe your boobs as well
And you thought YOU had a surprise!
Though you had named me Christopher
Now you can call me Christine...
Won't you try not to get freaked out?
And please try to understand --
The adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
Oh no - that adoptee and mom reunion
Won't go quite the way that you'd planned
The adoptee and mom reunion
Will show I'm no longer a man

Great job, Mari D! This parody becomes part of another burgeoning Amiright sub-genre: gender-change parodies.....wrote one myself awhile back, "Your Dong"....Leah Lockhart wrote one, too...anybody else?
Cute!
Nice job Mari. And Johnny, if Malcolm doesn't have a sex-change parody or three in his pile, I'll eat my cat. I mean hat.
I was expecting this to be poignant instead of funny, but it was hilarious! Good job!
Johnny, Adagio, Claude, Merry -- Thank you! The reunion with my birth mom wasn't funny at all, or I'd have written about that. However, one of my long-lost brothers and I had this strange Pink Floyd connection... And I'm sure that Malcolm has several.
Mari - caught me off guard with this one. Not what I expected from the title. excellent.
