The Lyrics

On this date in 2009 – the Eastman Kodak Company announces that it will discontinue sales of the Kodachrome Color Film. Guess I better update Paul Simon's " Kodachrome " Song.
When I think back
On all the shots I took in my life
It's a wonder
I have any room today
What with all my stacks of negatives
Piled around me now
Where was this thing back in my hey day

Memory Card
You give me the room and the space
And ability to erase
All the bad pictures I used to pay for in the day, oh yeah!
With my DSL camera
I love this digital era
So Mama, just throw my Kodachrome away

If you took all the bad snapshots
Of what I've taken
And laid them end to end for you to see
I know I spent so much
At my local Fotomat
I could have bought my own Third World Country

Memory Card
You give me the room and the space
And ability to erase
All the bad pictures I used to pay for in the day, oh yeah!
With my DSL camera
I love this digital era
So Mama, just throw my Kodachrome away

Mama, throw away my Kodachrome
Mama, throw away my Kodachrome
Mama, just throw my Kodachrome away

Mama, throw away my Kodachrome
I've gone high-tech now don't you know
Mama, just throw my Kodachrome away

Dan - What a concept! What a parody! These words are worth one thousand pictures. ;D

Looks like Kodak threw it away for you. A little shop in Parson's, Kansas processed the last roll of Kodachrome just a few months ago. I've seen somewhere that Polaroid is producing an instant film camera again. There are some things that just can't be done with a computer. My brother accidentally dropped his phone into a storm sewer and lost all his photos and information. It took a flood to wipe out some of my old pictures, but I'd hate to see them vulnerable to a battery failure.

Brings back memories- I still remember that when the instant cameras came out my mom bought me a Kodak EK-6 (?) the tyope that printed the pics vertically instead of horizontally!!! I thought that was a POS back then but wish I still had that old tech for memorabilia. Same with all the flash cubes and flash sticks!!! Anyway, great parody- 555!!!

I have about 50 boxes of Ektakromes that I have to vet one of these days. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 555 slides.

I remember the TV ad for Kodachrome film featuring the beautiful stained glass windows of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. An a capella group sang, "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper. I loved that ad, it was so peaceful. I also remember the OS fondly too. I remember my Mom driving me and my sister to grade school and I'd see a few friends playing kickball while the song played. Like Paul Simon says in the OS, there was quite a lot of "crap" we had to learn in school, too. Now TV ads are crap, school is full of crap and pop music is too but your parody is excellent to the max. Bravo!
