Oh, sod it.
I never wanted to be a programmer, rattling on all day about typedefs and pointers
I... I wanted to be...

THE PRESIDENT

Bungling from crisis to crisis as they hit the headlines in the World's media!

Afghanistan!
Iraq!
Africa! (Where's Africa?)
Palestine! (Did I mean Israel?)
Al quaeda (Al coholism?)

With a nubile intern by my ..er.. side
We'd sing! Sing! Sing!
I'm the President and I'm OK
Like my daddy yesterday

[Men in suits]:
He's the President and he's OK
Just like his daddy yesterday

[Me!]:
I cut down tax, I like big biz
I say "I'm alright, Jack"
On Wednesdays I go bombing
And try and find Iraq

[Men in suits]:
He cuts down tax, he likes big biz
He says "I'm alright Jack"
On Wednesdays he goes bombing
And tries to find Iraq

[Me!]:
I'm the President and I'm OK
Like my daddy yesterday

[Men in suits]:
He's the President and he's OK
Just like his daddy yesterday

[Me!]
I cut down tax, I spend and spend
I like to send out writs
I invade foreign countries
And run up deficits

[Men in suits]:
He cuts down tax, he spends and spends
He likes to send out writs
He invades foreign countries
And runs up.... deficits???

[Me!]:
I'm the President and I'm OK
Like my daddy yesterday

[Men in suits]:
He's the President and he's OK
Just like his daddy yesterday

[Me!]:
I cut down tax, I bar all trade
With Cuba - no cigar
I'll be in one term only
Just like my dear papa.

[Men in suits]:
He cuts down tax, he bars all trade
With Cuba?? Still no cigars???

(spoken, raggedly):
He's right, you know - he will be in for only one term
No Cuban cigars - vote him out

[Me!]:
I'm the President and I'm OK
Like my daddy yesterday

[All]:
He's the President and he's okaaaaaaaaaaayyy..... (BONG)
Just like his daddy yesterday

Praise this song? Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent. Making fun of my boy over in that Amiright area over there, got the humor thing going.

I've been wanting to do a Lumberjack parody for ages, but never had the right topic: surprising, really, as this one seemed so obvious once the idea struck. Like my other one today (the R2D2 number), this kind of wrote itself in a couple of minutes flat.

Well, there's not much material to work with... unless you do the whole sketch, sort of:
Customer: Let's check my email
Server: You've got 50 new messages
There's spam
Viagra spam, penis size spam
Pornographic spam spam spam
Pornographic viagra spam
Viagra size spam
etc etc etc... maybe The Philosopher's Song would be easier...

What about doing 'Accountancy Shanty' from The Crimson Permanent Assurance (support film to The Meaning Of Life)?
Phil Alexander - October 27, 2003 - Report this comment
Hmm.. it's a bit short: howsabout "The Tribunal Shanty", sort of: "It's fun to shaft a corporation/And sue for poor redundancy"... needs more work, methinks ;-)

Just caught this on the Malloy show. Is this the complete set of lyrics? Or is there another way more better far more modern and completely current version? Either way, well done.....
Phil Alexander - November 06, 2004 - Report this comment
The Malloy show? If he did use this, then he omitted to mention it to me first... This is the complete set of lyrics that I wrote a year or more ago: from the sound of it (and after a bit of googling), you're thinking of the version by Russ Thomas which seems a bit more recent. Can't find a full set of lyrics, though, so I couldn't tell you which one's funnier ;-) I did like this bit: "I cut down trees, and taxes too, especially for my pals./ I'm really into marriage, but just for guys and gals."
